Even after firing Nurse, it;s difficult to know what Toronto will do and how unreasonable Ujiri will be in his asks, but here is a toronto writer;s opinion:
"With Nurse gone, the only prominent front-facing figures that remain from that 2019 team are VanVleet, Pascal Siakam and O.G. Anunoby, and their futures are very much uncertain as well. VanVleet will opt out of his contract and join Jakob Poeltl and Gary Trent Jr. as unrestricted free agents this summer. Siakam and Anunoby have been and will continue to be featured in trade speculation. Outside of Scottie Barnes, who is coming off a disappointing follow up to his Rookie of the Year campaign, everybody and everything is on the table as the off-season kicks into high gear ahead of the draft in late June and free agency at the beginning of July.

Ujiri is an executive that has often favoured patience and continuity over big roster shakeups, most recently at the trade deadline. He’s also shown a reluctance to break up the core of VanVleet, Siakam and Anunoby. But without cap space, next season’s first-round pick – which was lightly protected and sent to San Antonio for Poeltl and the deadline – or an obvious path to contention, he may not have a choice but to dismantle a group that he built, developed and believes in. Does he have the heart for it? It’s worth noting that the last time he fired a head coach, Dwane Casey, he followed it up by making his biggest and most callous trade to date, moving loyal solider and beloved franchise icon DeMar DeRozan for Leonard in the name of chasing a title."

    who is this guy?

and of course, the idea that the Blazers could finalize any trade like this before the lottery seems like bullshit

Ant/Nas/#5/Future 1 for Bridges/Claxton. Don’t like it but could see it. Then flip Nurk for whatever.

    Dame/Sharpe/Bridges/Grant/Claxton

    5 seed?

I think they might struggle to rebound but if the bench was right that and Shaedon pops then that team could really compete with anyone. If you're only spending our pick in this draft and a future first that leaves up to three other future firsts to play with to try and bolster our bench, we have two TPEs one is 8.3M and the other is 2.6M, plus we have what would likely be the TPMLE so we aren't hard capped.

I'm hoping for something even cooler, expecting something a little worse so I wouldn't be pissed off with that team.

Nurkic and Claxton and a 3rd string big starts to get you into ‘passable frontcourt’ territory.

What about Ant/Nas/#3? I hate it because I think Brandon Miller will be much better than Bridges eventually but if we are forced to upgrade immediately I think Brooklyn might pull that.

I hope we hit #1 so bad so we aren’t forced into trading the pick or Sharpe.

Brooklyns goal is to find a player that will be as good as Bridges. Ant is not as good as most here think. Nas is worthless, so Brooklyn would need to be convinced Miller will be as good as Bridges……I’m not making that trade if I’m Brooklyn

Lol I love how the “realistic trade thread” has a bunch of trades that are based on unlikely scenarios.

For it to be “realistic”, we need to assume our pick is 7th until the lottery proves otherwise.

It seems the majority here, or at least the vocal minority, but am assuming the majority, seem to have soured pretty quickly on Ant. I'm not one, but a lot of hate his way

I actually think he will break out if given the opportunity.

For instance, if he were to go to Orlando and play point guard, he could be an All Star.

I don’t think he’s Dame. I think Sharpe has a higher ceiling. But I think Ant is a good player who has been playing out of position in a terrible system for him.

I agree that Ant could be better in another place similar to CJ. But let's not act like CJ has been other worldly since going to Nawlins. He's actually been who he was in his career in Portland. I think his leadership has taken a step up, but his actual play has pretty much stayed the same.
