I’m not necessarily giving up, but we have been outplayed and out coaches for all but 5 minutes of this game.
Trocheck giveth…Trocheck taketh away. Yes Igor could’ve stopped that but Trocheck got lost and didn’t cover his man. Devils are going to make it even tougher than before to score and this team outside of a 5 minute push hasn’t shown the balls to get to the dirty areas and screen the goalie and make him uncomfortable. I mean, fuck, they literally ran over Igor with no call. That’s a green light to crash their net and crush their goalie.
Every time the puck gets to Schmid there’s no one there. No one is near the crease. No one is near the goalie. And then we lose another face off.
Two games on home ice and they played exactly how NJ wanted them to with a rookie goaltender. Throwing useless long shots at the net. Nobody in front. Nobody going hard to the net. Nobody willing to battle.
He scored yesterday but NJ made an adjustment on their PK whereas our coaches have made no adjustment to how the Devils adjusted. It’s the definition of insanity.
This franchise can never handle the upper hand. Even in 94 they needed massive luck against NJ and hung on by the skin of their teeth against Vancouver.
From your lips to Gods ears. But honestly, who on this team is winning a face off? And our best players? They’ve been non existent.
Hughes has been developed by the Devils and they’re reaping the rewards. We have not developed neither Lafreniere or Kakko. That neither have a world class skill is irrelevant. Neither did Gretzky. If we had drafted Hughes instead of Kakko, we would have turned him into Rico Fata.
