I wonder if the Hawks blow it up? Would Capela be an upgrade over Nurkic?

What would it take to pry Jarrett Allen away from the Cavs?

I really don't see the need to acquire a non shooting big man. The current NBA game just doesn't value those players. Sure if we spent like the Clippers or Warriors it might be nice to have one, but we dont. With limited cap resources I want all the extra salary going to defensive wings that have an offensive skill, and then get vet minimum or maybe MLE big men to fill those 15-20mpg roles. If the Blazers just had a Hartenstein level backup or maybe two if Nurk is gone they would be fine for the times they need a traditional center.

Can we just have Nurk care, like he did when playing for his native country. That would solve a lot of problems.

The most ferocious dunk of the season for Nurk....was playing for his home squad. We got mostly flippity boppity boo attempts here.

I'm talking about if our pick went to Minny with Ant and Nas for KAT... then we could offer (but wouldn't have to) up to 4 FRPs for OG. I think the rumor was that the Raptors were asking for three at the deadline and no one would go for that. This isn't even a dream scenario for me, just a likely one that would still leave us most likely just competing for HCA but not a championship.

    Trade1
    -Blazers get Jaylen Brown
    -Celtics get Ant, #5, #23, 2030 unprotected

    Trade2
    -Blazers get Demar DeRozen
-Spurs get Nurk, Blazers 2nd round pick, lesser of Bulls/Blazers 2026 1st
-Bulls get Collins, Little, Knox, Blazers 2026 and 2028 picks both top4 protected. 2024 pick changed to unprotected

    Blazers depth chart;
    Dame Mays
    Brown Sharpe
    DeRozen Thybulle
    Grant Jabari
    Eubanks Watford

Still have tax MLE, trade exceptions, vet minimums to improve that depth

Last time Blazers added an all-star level player was Steve Smith and Scottie Pippen in 1999. This would likewise be two such additions.

With 26 year old Brown and 20 year old Sharpe also have some long term upside.

I am totally off trading multiple lightly protected 1sts for Derozan.

I worry about Brown not wanting to actually be here. I’m mostly in even though that worry would kill me for the entire season.

Rumors are Brown is very close to Dame like Grant and may put one team, the Blazers, on his list of preferred destinations this summer. He's on an expiring contract so like Grant actually has some input. It depends on how the Celtics do the rest of the playoffs, if they make the finals he probably stays put.

I'm not as big on the DeRozen trade, but the Blazers have to give up more picks there to get out of Nurks overpaid contract, DeRozen is again super close to Dame and in his wedding. With the rest of the shooting on that roster I'm not as concerned with DeRozen iffy 3pt shot. Seems like a trade Dame would also really push for, and I'd be interested in seeing how it works even though it has some risk of DeRozen declining soon.

Boston wins, Embiid becomes a possibility

Philly wins, Brown becomes a possibility

Depends on the draft considerations. If that pick is #2 it most definitely could happen. Scoot would fit well with Toronto.
I think the Blazers would/should balk on that one and hold out for Siakam. Of course, it would take more additional assets than it would for OG.
I like OG, and would love him if the price is right, but we really need a forward who can create his own shot in crunch time, and I don't think he can.

#2 for Siakam is an overpay I think.
