Great news for suns fans. What about the blazers. If i remember correctly root sports is going away. who will broadcast blazer games next season?
Is Utah doing something similar? The owner said he wanted to make it as easy as possible for fans to watch the games.
I live pissing distance from the Portland market/Eugene market boundary. Which means I can't get local Portland channels with cable or with satellite. I'd be completely screwed unless the games are on an available cable channel, or the Blazers offer a streaming service.
No. WB I believe who owned the majority stock in it left, but last I heard Blazers were staying. I guess we will see.
Says broadcast for free and streamed online. Not sure if streaming is free, or all the games are broadcast. I wonder if maybe teams will start cramming more ads into a free version then have a lesser ad premium content version. Have all free throws in a tiny window with giant adds for free. If you want full screen game action the entire time it costs more. Less commercials costs more. Pregame and postgame cost more. Alternative announcers cost more. Maybe free is only 720p quality but premium is 4K. DVR costs more. There might be a way to get the game available in the most basic format for everyone; but also start doing add ons with premium content in a way to have more total revenue.
Good news for me, maybe. I spend winters in AZ and subscribe to League Pass to watch the Blazers. The two games the Blazers play the Suns in Phoenix are subject to blackout since I could pick up their local cable package. Hope I can get those two games on broadcast TV next season.
But this is how it used to be back in the day. It’s nothing new. Remember 20 games or so used to be on KPTV/KOIN/KGW. There was just no money in it, and regional sports networks started popping up.
