I'm all for there being a WNBA, but there's a reason why they don't have their own practice facilities (tho why they aren't afford the opportunity to use the NBA teams PFs....), and there's a reason why they don't have their own individual locker rooms, or get better pay.

They're subsidized big time by the NBA...

No, they’re TOTALLY subsidized by the NBA. Complete money pit every season. No cash made ever.

5hr old post n 35 comments says absolutely everything you need to know.

its cool she got a locker n whatever, but the amount of people saying x deserves y when the whole league is subsidized by the NBA and has run at a loss since inception doesnt reallllllllly back any of this 'deserve' thing up.
90% of the people saying its deserved dont go to games, dont buy merch, and wouldnt be able to name their 10 fav current wnba players. it just feels nice to say, but the doing part of support is another thing.
id love them to get more support n pay, but compared to the nba the wnba product is just beyond my ability to enjoy.

So what’s the point of the league then if it doesn’t make money?

They are professional athletes also and in essence deserve a bit more luxuries if you will. However, until they start bringing in way more money, that will be easier said than done. Same goes for women's soccer and basically every women's sport. I don't watch women's basketball myself as I find it very monotonous and boring, but do respect the work they put in.

Women’s soccer is a lot of fun, the Thorns are just as enjoyable, if not more-so than the Timbers to watch.

My daughter met Sophia Smith at PDX Friday on here way to Utah for some games. Smith was on the way to Kansas City to watch her boyfriend get drafted to the NFL!

I’m not making a case for or against your statement, but everything you said is subjective.

What sells to you may not sell to the masses. I think it’s unfortunate that they don’t have equal pay; but when it comes down to it, they’re getting paid to entertain others. If the product just doesn’t appeal because there is something more enticing to the average consumer, I’m not sure that there’s an argument.

Crazy thing is, the NWSL is the highest level of talent of women’s soccer in the world. Like the NBA and basketball….. and it STILL gets no love. MLS is probably what, MAYBE the 10th best? Can’t force people to love something. Too bad, they are missing some great stuff.

Don't disagree, but my point is that unlike basketball, women's soccer is as good, or better, than men's soccer. Soccer itself is not for everyone, I get it, but I am just pointing out that you should give them a shot because they are extremely skilled and very fun to watch.

I don’t like playing or watching soccer. If I were into it, I could totally see what you’re saying as being valid. I’d rather watch women’s soccer than men’s.
