Trading Panarin obviously is a no-brainer so I believe that. I think Lafreniere asked for a trade, don’t know that, but just my thoughts. It was inevitable either he or Kakko would because their coach was a dumb fuck. That and the fact that I think Montreal is going to make an offer sheet. I expect Lafreniere to sign it without question.
I don't think Montreal would give up #5 overall for Laf, but maybe something like #17 and one of their top 3-4 prospects like the C -Beck or Mesar. Then maybe you'd use Jones or another prospect to move up from 17.
Who knows, maybe Gorton would give up 5. I don't think i would but they are trying to accelerate their rebuild rapidly so maybe. Plus him being from there.
Montréal’s prospect pool is poor. If they weren’t willing to start with the fifth overall and something else it’s not worth it.
Who would they use as center for Lafreniere? Dach? and you def have to get the 5 pick to lessen the disaster of the situation.
I'd love it for many reasons, but I just don't see it. $11.6M AAV, combined with a NMC, combined with he does like NY does not scream trade to me. I also think dealing any of the kids, unless in a package for a stud gritty player like a Tkachuk, doesn't make sense, you don't deal low. Play them in the top 6 where they belong, and go from there.
