Nine Republican senators received big donations from Harlan Crow. Not coincidentally, all are on Senate Judiciary Committee.

Don't worry, pretty much everyone here was around in 1988.

If Dems manage to get the trifecta again in my lifetime, with somehow 50 senators who aren’t beholden to massive Republican majority states like Joe Manchin in WV. Then they need to pass some kind of Supreme Court reform, such as term limits, or expanding the court to like 100+ judges to dilute the power of individual justices.

I highly doubt it. But if he does it only makes it harder for Dems to control the senate again for the foreseeable future.

Let me add Manchin has been around a long long time and is an experienced politician. If he runs as a No Labels candidate he would have to know that the only outcome is to ensure Bidens defeat. He may do this, sure, but why? I mean he’s smart enough to know he had zero chance of winning, so why would he? What’s the benefit?

I think it’s vastly more likely that he’s just simply doing political posturing for his constituents and possibly threatening it as leverage against Biden and the Dems to ensure he gets something he wants.

Probably he's going to declare himself an independent in hopes of being re-elected to the Senate. Like Sinema, but not as stupid/pointless/tonedeaf.

Yeah, I hate every aspect of it.
Nothing good can come of it. It's all to get more power for corporations.

Clarence Thomas is still a Supreme Court judge. This is Panama Papers all over again. Nothing changes. Nothing gets better. The police hurt us more, the companies pay us less, our rights are curtailed further and further. All of us are going to die, and those who die sooner will have lived better lives than those who die later. And Clarence Thomas is still a Supreme Court judge, because nothing matters anymore.

Here is something that matters. Thomas and Scalia are over 70. They are doing everything they can to put Trump back in office so they can retire and he can name their replacement. An absolute majority of the Supreme Court would be Trump nominees pledged to be loyal to him.

Clarence Thomas Accepted Yacht Trip to Russia, Chopper Flight to Putin’s Hometown: Democrats

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has been accused of not disclosing a yacht trip to Russia and a private helicopter flight to a palace in President Vladimir Putin’s hometown, among a slew of other gifts and loans from businessman Harlan Crow.

Buried on page 14 of a letter that two Democratic senators sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday, in which they urged Garland to appoint a special counsel to probe Thomas, was an astonishing list of dozens of “likely undisclosed gifts and income” from Crow, Crow’s affiliated companies, and “other donors.”

In the letter, Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) said Thomas, one of the court’s staunchly conservative justices, even may have committed tax fraud and violated other federal laws by “secretly” accepting the gifts and income potentially worth millions.

“The Senate is not a prosecutorial body, and the Supreme Court has no fact-finding function of its own, making the executive role all the more important if there is ever to be any complete determination of the facts,” reads the letter requesting the appointment of a special prosecutor.

“We do not make this request lightly,” said the letter.
