Yeah, yeah, I know: "it depends what we get". Well, name the minimum that it would have to be for you to be happy with it (and I'll bet that'll be above what we actually get for it.)
Minimum for me would be Siakam. I’d be upset if we traded it for OG. That dude can’t stay healthy. If Miller is there, I’d probably rather roll the dice with him.
I wonder how many threads the people who'd rather trade Dame than the pick need in order to say they'd rather trade Dame than the pick
Siakam for 3 and Nurk would be a disaster for us IMO. Siakam and dame are maybe a HCA team that gets bounced in round 2 or 3, and then we have to watch Brandon miller or scoot become an exciting all star on another team.
Thoughts on this 3 team trade: Blazers get mikel bridges Houston gets the 3rd pick, nurk and keon. Brooklyn gets the 4 pick, and the 2024 pick back from the houston. Would u be mad at this?
If we can realistically contend after trading #3 I'm good with it. I don't think thats likely with the assets on this roster or the prior effectiveness of the GM, but thats my measuring stick for a succesful #3 trade. If its #3 and Ant for Brown or Bridges I'm good with it. They are elite wings and young even if we eventually rebuild. I can see us having a realistic chance to contend with either one and Dame/Sharpe/Grant. If we trade #3 for OG or do other moves that likely lead us to purgatory for many years I'll be furious.
It depends on what the team gets, obviously. I can't say in advance how I will react to an event when I don't know what the event is.
I do question a lof of fans that say the team needs a return of "x" for the pick will still judge it that way after a trade. We often hear fans rationalize poor moves after the fact that they would've been heavily against prior. The Clippers/Pelicans deadline trades are the perfect example. Fans were throwing around all sorts of names for CJ/Powell/etc for months and how the Blazers could add talent to win with Dame. Then after the trade the narrative changed to it being addition by subtraction and that the team would have so much more "flexibility" in the future to later add talent. Except there was never any flexibility used, or talent added. Now its turned into justification that Cronin needed to strip away Olsheys poor moves, but he somehow now has tons of options to build a legit winner with Dame this offseason. If the Blazers make some stupid trade locking in mediocrity I expect a huge section of the fans here and elsewhere will justify it as the smartest move to do for a bunch of stupid reasons that they would criticize today. Ultimately, until this team gets better ownership that can hire great management I'm not sure why we should expect this franchise to ever be well run and contend.
Siakam wouldn't be exciting enough for ya? 6'9 7'3" ws - career 25ppg, 8 boards, 6.2 assist, and mostly noted for his D. How long would it take Miller, Scoot, or the twin to be that dominate and experienced for a sure thing?
Depends who is available at #3... Mikal Bridges + Claxton is about the only trade I'd entertain. 3 / Simons / whatever else
Yeah thats the type of trade that realistically makes it possible to contend. Also, still most of that core is under 30 with good future upside. I'm all for exploring that type of deal for #3. Now if its 3 / Simons for Siakam.... no, thats not contending now, or a step away, or a good future. In that case - keep the damn pick.
