At least the return Gobert got. Maybe more.

I don't think a precedent was necessarily set with that trade. But sure that would be something to consider if all those picks were unprotected, plus 3 young rotation players. although the Jazz only kept Kessler and the picks.

I think a precedent was set in a way. We saw what the Suns paid for Durant. And, yeah I get Durant is better than Gobert. So is Dame.

Buy, yeah I think GMS are asking for more now. Nobody would trade for OG or Pascal because Toronto was asking too much. The asking price for players will likely die down a bit once GMs realize they are going to all get gold mine deals.

I don't think some of these posters care what the return is...they just want Dame gone

And some of them just want to provoke, regardless of the situation.

I think most people that want to trade...or are of the mind that we should (I'm not), believe the team will do better trading him and rebuilding, then keeping him and keep failing to build a contender. That's not a terrible reason.

I don't think I have seen anyone just straight up say, they want him gone just because they want him gone.

And some fans just want Dame to stay regardless of the return. Solid argument that both groups are stupid.

I want Dame to stay unless he asks to be traded. If he does, the return is going to be a lot less than what people are imagining

but I'm not going to back off what I said about some posters here just wanting Dame gone.

No, just don't want to make any moves that disrupt the team currently being built. Granted, I have a short memory, but i can't remember the last time Portland had a more intriguing group of very young players. The future looks bright and the journey feels like something enjoyable to experience. Trading the future away to placate a 6'2" point guard who does not play defense and has not shown the ability to make the players around him better seems pretty unreasonable. Presenting him with the choice to be a part of what is being built seems reasonable.

You talk about, "Making his teammates better". When is it the responsibility of those said players to step their games up, and be impact players. Or, just maybe, those players don't have it in themselves to become impactful, because they're just not that good. Name me a player who played with Dame ( and wasn't injured while here , Zach) that has left and become more than what he was here? CJ, same. Norm, same. Harkless, was better with Dame. Aminu, Career basically ended. LaMarcus, stayed a similar level, maybe became less dominant. And on, and on , and on.
