?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

My question isn't if he's super athletic, it's if he's having weight issues as a 2o year old, whats the deal? My first impression watching him was he was carrying bad weight. The combine sure seemed to confirm it, but maybe 235 is in shape for him? I would think others would have the same concern

And I expect he'll maximize value again this year. Keep or trade the pick, I think he'll make the decision that they determine puts the most talent on the team.

If (when) Grant comes back, do we really need a wing? Grant IS NOT a 4. He is a very poor rebounder and this team got killed on the boards last year. I think we really need to be looking for for a 4. Either that or if Grant can’t guard 3s then move the fuck on

Those two will more than likely be solid players down the road, a few years. A guy like Siakam is a proven warrior and champion. He's a dog and in my opinion would fit fine with Dame.

This Siakam love makes no sense to me. He is on a team loaded with talent, Barnes, OG, Trent Jr, VanVleet and Poeltl yet finished 41-41 losing in first playin game. How are they not winning the east? Is it just a team full of second and third options with no leaders? We want to give up number 3, Ant and possibly more for that? Siakam and OG are not worth the 3 and we should move on. Draft Scoot or Miller at 3.

This is why their coach got fired. Maybe Trent and Van Vleet were a bad fit together? Poeltl only played 26 games and they played much better once they got him. I admit I have used your argument for various players in the last 20 years, but I think you can say that about a lot of good players and it would be foolish not to think they can win in a different environment. We see it happen all the time.

Agreed. Siakim is like Jerami Grant to me. Puts up inflated #'s as the #1 option but isn't a real #1 option.

Is he a good 2nd? Maybe. but probably better suited as a 3rd. But a 2nd or 3rd isn't really someone you trade a young prospect (Simons)+ the 3rd pick in the draft for.

Toronto doesn't have many players who can create or run an offense. They are mostly all wings.

    You can't win like that.

But they still should have won more if they had a decent coach.

I don't think Siakam and Grant are on the same level. Siakam is way better at creating his own shot. He also plays more physically. Siakam is a two-time all-NBA player. Grant is suited as a 3rd or 4th option. Siakam I would say is a strong #2 option.

He's a few levels above Grant. A definitive all star who can make All NBA teams in the right year. A much better playmaker and rebounder than Grant too.

he looked like a good 2nd option when they won championship. We also need to start thinking how much is he going to improve our defense? Between Sharpe, Dame, Grant and Siakam we’d we have plenty of offensive power. Grant and Siakam would give us some much needed size and length allowing us to to switch on defense and supply backside help. If you could some how upgrade center position with more defense then you’ve got a heck of a team.

Again I’m not saying do it but silly we don’t want to even consider trading for a proven all star. The 3rd pick is not a guarantee to be some superstar where as Siakam is guaranteed to be a star.

btw i think scoot will be a star, Miller i have some big concerns especially if rumors true about him coming in to the biggest moment in his life over weight

Siakim is on an expiring right? That is assuming a big risk, too big. You give up Scoot for a guy that bolts next summer? I know Joe has to take risks though..

The players I put #3 in play for: (and keep in mind we would have to include Simons and/or Nurk to complete the trade).

    - Brown - no brainer. All nba caliber wing and undervalued because of playoff flameout and contract situation
    - Siakam - he's only 29 and made an all nba team last year
    - Paul George
    - Embiid
    - Ingram? Would he be available??

    Tier below:
    - Bridges - we saw his contribution on a contender. He's a super duper role player that any team would love to have. But we need a definitive #2. I would consider it he comes with Claxton

    - KAT - can we get McDaniels too?

    Tier below:
    - Ayton - bleh
    - OG

I agree with this list, with maybe the exception of Paul George. I have wanted him on this team for a very long time, but the dude can't stay healthy.

Look at his games played last four years. No way this dude is worth the #3.

was a real "2nd" option on that Raptors team? Weren't there a couple players averaging around 14-16 ppg for them?

I hate that we won't know who Kupchak is picking until he actually does. Trading partners have different needs and 5 minutes between picks is not much even if Joe is prepared and has a couple of options on the table before the draft starts.

Ya maybe. He's also been on team load manage the past few seasons, so not sure that metric is representative of his health.
