    My wife had a Siamese when she was a teenager living in an apartment block. Every once in a while he would come back smelling of cigar smoke. She figured he had a secret poker game.

    True story my wife just told me;

    A guy came into her office and asked if she would be interested in taking in his 4 year cat...she asked why he wanted to get rid of the cat and he replied that his new GF is allergic to cats.

    My wife thought for a second and then said with a very straight face..."Keep the cat, get rid of the GF".

    Of course. I have told women get rid of husband or boyfriend. Lucia agrees.

    Took Lucia for exam and shots. V.e.t. confirmed, she is losing weight. Don't know why. Took blood and urine samples. I brought shit sample. Could be anything from parasite, easily cured, to cancer. Keep asking her to be OK.

    All Lucia's lab results are normal. I left message with v.e.t. asking if there is a supplement I can give her to add calories. She is thin and I don't think she is planning a career in modeling or ballet. So I would like to add a few ounces.

    I dug a hole to plant a new rose bush. Lucia added fertilizer.

    Dropped off Lucia at v.e.t. House is lonely and empty without her. She had to be fasting. Poor cat kept meowing to be fed and I couldn't feed her.

    Lucia is home.
    Very concerning. I finally found food she would eat, but although she is eating much more, she continues to lose weight at alarming pace.
    Exam showed one abnormality, a section of her small intestine is enlarged and the associated lymph nodes are enlarged. They took aspirates and results will arrive next week. Three possibilities.
    Best option, infection. Treat with antibiotics.
    Second option, inflammation similar to irritable bowel syndrome. Diet and meds.
    Worst case, cancer. Plan her funeral.

    Good news, apparently not cancer. Bad news, we don't know what the hell is wrong. Vet showed Lucia's results to veterinary internist and he couldn't say. I have been giving her psyllium. The idea is to slow her elimination. She is eating but doesn't absorb nutrients, it just runs out of her. Seems to be working. She looks more energetic. We are going to add probiotics and put her on special antiinflammatory diet which I hope Miss Picky will eat, then evaluate. She is so thin. Her tummy is full but she is malnourished.
