What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

I'm just not at all in love with trading the 3rd pick for guys like Wagner and WCJ.

Scoot could legitimately be a superstar. He could also be a bust, but the chance that he could be a superstar is worth keeping the pick.

Amen could be a superstar. He could also be a bust, but the chance that he could be a superstar is worth keeping the pick.

Miller is probably the least likely to be a superstar, but he could be a very good player.

Portland's history of being unable to sign star players, or trade for star players, makes me not want to give up a chance at drafting another star player. I have high hopes for Sharpe, but I would like to double our chances. Our best shot at winning a championship is if we draft a couple of stars on the same timeline. That's really the whole point in possibly trading the pick for Brown or Bridges or Siakam. Those guys are stars. So the choice is either to draft a guy who could be a star, or trade for a guy who is currently a star. I don't see the point in trading for guys who are not stars.

As reports have suggested (who knows what is true right now), we shouldn't even consider moving off the #3 pick unless we're getting a damn near guaranteed hall of famer in return.

I'd rather have Scoot than OG or Pascal or whatever other garbage - and it's pretty clear I'm not a Scoot fan.

Ant is 24 in a week, same age as CJ in 2015-26, and has 270 games of experience now; CJ had 180 at the end of that season

I never said Ant wasn't going to improve....he will. How much is a valid question. I was mainly pushing back on your assertion that Ant could be a better passing guard than Dame, if he wasn't playing with Dame

ok...except I NEVER suggested giving up the 3rd pick for DeRozan.

What I suggested was that Portland might be able to get DeRozan for Ant, AND get all their picks back, AND use the 3 to add an elite talent, if they choose right

I like the Wagner and #11 part as it allows us to keep Ant as well.
Certainly, #3 and #23 would be much better...... for Wagner and #6

This is why I like your idea of dealing Dame for Smith/4/??. Give us lots of shots at an all-NBA player. Can we deal Ant/23 to Orlando for 6/filler as well? Give me an Amen/Sharpe/Ausar/Miller/Smith lineup and see what happens.

Depends on who you can get for #6.

That definitely would give us a lot of pokers in the fire in the hopes that two of them turn into All-NBA level players.

I don't think anyone is saying we should trade down for just Wagner.

But Wagner has a lot of potential to be a high quality starting wing (maybe even an AS), so the jist would be to get Wagner WITH someone we can draft a couple picks down from #3. If you believe Scoot or Amen have the same star-or-bust probability, it makes sense to trade down and get one of the twins in addition to Wagner. To me, the size difference makes it a no brainer. I'm high on Scoot, I'm higher on Amen for this team.

Not high on Wagner and #11 for #3. At #11, we basically have to hope Hendricks or someone along those lines drops that low. Otherwise, I'd look for a different trade down and still be high enough to draft someone with superstar potential. #3 and #23 for Wagner and #6, I probably wouldn't hesitate on.

I tend to agree. There's too much value in the 3rd pick and the gulf between 3 & 11 is too wide

The mock drafts are all over the place. Interesting that one mock has us picking Grady Dick at 11
Jarace Walker might not be ready now, but he could be good down the road. Ausar is slotted for 6th
    Hendricks between 7-10

I lurk on the raptors forum and, as a rule, the members would be ecstatic to have sharp. Every fan wants the 3 AND Sharpe. Nfw to both. Keep the 3 and deal Ant and Nurk and 23 for a quality starter.

Makes sense. They think they can hold on to the local boy for a decade or more. Here is what Bleacher Report proposes.

    1. Toronto Raptors receive: Kevin Porter Jr., Kenyon Martin Jr., No. 4 pick and 2025 first-round pick (top-four protected)

      Houston Rockets receive: Pascal Siakam

If Scoot Henderson makes it to the No. 4 pick, the Rockets' phone lines will be blowing up.

The Raptors have a chance to win the bidding war by dangling Pascal Siakam, exactly the kind of instant-impact star Houston reportedly plans to chase. If the Rockets ironed out any type of long-term agreement with the 29-year-old, who has just one year left on his contract, he'd be a big enough prize to justify parting with this many long-term assets.

More than anything, the Raptors would walk away from this deal with two things: A clear-cut, future-focused identity and a long-term co-star for Scottie Barnes. He and Henderson would dazzle in the open court and work two-man magic in the half court, as both players could handle either side of a pick-and-roll. They could play with pass, passing and in-your-face tenacity, creating all kinds of chaos on defense.

With Siakam out and Henderson in, Toronto would be playing for tomorrow, making it easier to split from high-cost free agents Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr. and Jakob Poeltl.

The Raptors could even shop O.G. Anunoby, though they might see him fitting with a Barnes-Henderson core. Martin should be a clean fit for that group, too, and Toronto would have time to see whether Porter could find his niche.

    Yes that is super interesting.

Ant - probably not All NBA but maybe some chance of it
    Sharpe - yes a chance
    #3 - Amen yes a chance
#4 - Ausar yes a chance, probably lower
Smith - I doubt a chance especially in the hypothetical Houston agrees to send him to us

    Scoot yes a chance
Miller yes a chance, probably lower

I wonder if Amen and Ausar All-NBA probabilities are correlated? As identical twins you'd think so, but then again theres alot to basketball besides genetics. Seems like the Blazers might be better drafting just one of them if they are highly correlated, as it would give a higher chance of having an all NBA player. If Sharpe is one the Blazers only need one more, not two.

With the new CBA I'm not sure you can really build a roster around 3 All-NBA players any longer once they get on max contracts. Even two can be difficult, three just seems impossible.

3 and Sharpe for what? I'm not sure how Toronto can get either let alone both lol.

I sure hope we wouldn't consider either of them for an expiring contract supermax 30 year old Siakam.

29 year old, not 30 for 10 more months , Pascal Siakam has been an All NBA talent who was a key force for the Raptors on their way to a championship. Has his game gone to pot? He looked good to me when i saw him in person earlier this year. I get he's not your , or Godfathers , taste. But he's still one heck of a talented 2 way player who ,IMO, has many more potential , great years ahead. Now i wouldn't trade #3 & Sharpe for him. But i'd be fine with #3 and Ant /Nas to make it work.

I read that trade idea the Orlando one in the linked article ( bleacher report ) and I feel dumber for reading it but not as dumb as the author of that PoS article --- Dame wants to win now or a chance but let's trade him to the Magic where there odds are prolly around the same as the Blazers. Someone needs to tell the author of that PoS article he needs to stop being drunk and/or high when writing cause it made ZERO sense and insulting to the Blazer fanbase and maybe more important insulting to Dame.
