“You got 231 million dollars promised to you and you want to be a fu**ing thug? It’s ok for you to have a gun,” Brown continued. “You have a right, you have a 2nd Amendment right to have a gun, but what the f**k do you keep pulling it out menacing for? What is up with all this music you keep listening to? Is this music putting you in a trance, dumbass boy? Because that music is gonna cost you your fu**ing career.” – via BasketNews
This kid needs a wakeup call. Out for a year. Handle real life. If you can do that outside of the nba, then you can come back. Punks like this dont deserve the money he has coming to him, with all the poor people out there.
Too bad elected officials aren't held to the same standard. Congress members Christmas cards showing their children holding guns. Mississippi governor re-election ads show him cosplay as Clint Eastwood shooting dark skinned people.
Stupid comparison, elected officials aren't paid 231 million dollars by a private entertainment company. Ja free to go run for office and get a bunch of gun supporters to vote for him. Nobody is saying he should go to jail. But it's certainly acceptable for the NBA to suspend him.
Both are influencing kids and have large platforms, but Ja is an entertainer while these other guys are writing laws. She has a point, why is there such a negative reaction when Ja does it but not when a MAGA man does it?
Well there is a negative reaction from people that are against the idea of successful black people for obvious reasons but for almost equally obvious reasons there are reactions from people like Kwame Brown and others who want more for the black community than what they currently have and feel that what Ja is doing is hurting that cause. There are good reasons for the outrage about Ja and there are bad reasons. What you end up with is too much outrage for an outrageous thing. What you get when it's a powerful white guy is far too little outrage for an outrageous thing. That doesn't make all of the outrage about Ja wrong, it just makes the disparity between the outrage in the two situations, extremely wrong. I do think this is getting a little too politically charged for this forum though. The fact is that Ja has fucked up and he's going to get punished for it while others will fuck up and won't get punished for it. It doesn't mean that Ja should not be held accountable but it sure sucks that accountability is so fucking unfairly enforced.
I just don't see it this way at all - elected officials represent their voters, some voters want to see guns all over things so thats why they get elected from those constituents. In other areas of the country the region doesn't want to see it and that candidate would lose in a landside. It a reflection of what different groups in the country want, its not an indicator of what the legal system inherently allows. NBA fans don't want that image and the league doesn't want such a divisive topic. If a white player in the NBA did the same thing as Ja they'd have very similar outrage, white player, coach, executive, etc - IMO. You have rap artists and others entertainers glorifying guns, and that sells t00 - like elected officials thats a different base with different norms. Movies, actors, video games, etc glorify guns but in those mediums its again normalized if the individual is black, white, or any other protected class. Ja behaved in an unacceptable manor for a professional athlete, just as it would be for an executive in business, or many other professions. All of their employment in private industry is not protected by amendment rights.
I agree with Kawme Brown...dont let the music dictate stupid behavior. Don't fuck around with your multi million dollar career in public/internet.
This is worth the click… great read, right there. Wow, mad credit to Kwame Brown for telling it like it is.
I like how Shannon Sharpe said he's CEO of brand Ja. Would we see Tim Cook doing this? No, act professional. Want to act stupid, do it in your own private home with people you trust that won't stream or record shit.
Police conduct welfare check on Grizzlies' Ja Morant after posts So glad we don't have to deal with this dudes shenanigan's on our squad.
"As punishment, we are forcing the Grizzlies to trade him to the Lakers for a 2nd rnd draft pick." - Adam Silver
I like the proposal that Ja will be suspended for 1 year unless he agrees to a trade to the Jazz, then it's only a 5 game suspension and he enjoys the Salt Lake City nightlife.
