What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Waiting for a talent to “prove” themselves when they have shown what they can do when they are essentially given the keys seems wrong.

The Blazers are in no position to play it safe/conservative. We aren’t contenders and acting safe sure isn’t going to make us contenders.

Start Sharpe. I have no been quiet that I’m not an Ant fan but if he was willing to be our bench scorer, I’m ok with that; just not the pretending he is a PG. He is an under-sized SG who doesn’t play defense but when he is on, can score bunches.

If playing it safe is all we do, we may as well still have Olshey/Stotts. We may become (again) playoff material, but only in a playoff fodder level of playoff material.

Grant was a “safe” move. Yeah, he’s better than what we’ve had but doesn’t move the needle.

Take chances and risks. Go big or go home. Just don’t leave us where we’ve been - perpetually mediocre unless we are actively tanking.

That would be huge for us. Wagner has a knack for passing the ball, can score really well for a second year player, and can defend well. Certainly a guy I can see here for at least five years.

Talking about whether rookies can contribute; noticed that Braun, who was drafted in the 20's, is making an impact in the finals.

3 and Simons for 6 and 11 and Wagner or 3 and Nas for 6, 11 and WC jr. Make salaries work

Use 6, 11 and something to get another player like Siakam

    Sign Naz Reid

    Theoretically

    Dame
    Sharpe
    Wagner
    Siakam
    Nurk

    Dame
    Sharpe
    Grant
    Siakam
    Nurk

guys like Grant, Carter, Reid, Thybulle, Reddish whatever off the bench. Need to replace Nurk in line up, but probably need to trade him to do that

I've been hoping for something like that from the start. We are not 1 player away either in a trade, or from who we get in the Draft. Miller should be a star, but I don't see Superstar that leads you to a title. Scoot could be a media superstar, but again, how many short, ball dominant, scoring PG's lead their team to an NBA Title.

So if we could get a couple of lengthier pieces to put with Sharpe, etc, I would completely entertain that. Ausar or Hendricks at #6 and maybe Lively or Leonard Miller (bit of a reach) at 11 depending on whom you took at #6.

Just trying to figure this place out…..I remember reading how Kevin Love’s Minnesota numbers didn’t mean shit….. Westbrook in clutch numbers in meaningful games didn’t mean shit…..yet this kid plays well in basically glorified summer league games and that’s fantastic…..why…..because he has a pinwheel on his jersey?

my only concern is you rarely get opportunity to draft top 3 and your chances of that player being a superstar go way up so we’d be taking huge risk in giving up a player that could be our superstar

Agreed. Might be a star/superstar. But I'm wanting a superstar who can also from a historical standpoint, lead your team to a NBA title.

As we always say the draft is a crap shoot, but the decision should come down to who has the best chance to be the best player in the draft outside of Victor. Average players can be found elsewhere. We can always find x-lottery picks (we picked up 3 last season) So unless Ausar, Henricks, Lively, or LMiller can wind up as good as Scoot or BMiller then I lean toward keeping 3.

Now I did say earlier I would prefer Wagner and #6 for #3, so that might sound hypocritical, but the difference in my mind is that Franz is proven, and not as much of a question mark as the 4 examples you named.

do you think Scoot or Miller could potentially be that superstar? If so think we have to hang on to the pick. Personally feel like Scoot has that potential not sure Miller does so if Hornets take Scoot I would definitely consider the trade with Orlando.

I know the odds are that Orlando won't trade Wagner. But 6+11 for 3 isn't enough, and no combination of WCJ+6+11 is enough in my view

3 for 6 + Wagner would be my minimum. Orlando can keep 11

To me Scoot seems to have the higher ceiling and lower floor, mainly due to the fact that he's a guard and his shot is in question. Both could be superstars, Scoot is probably more likely to be an All-NBA player. Having said that, guards typically require more around them to dominate a playoff series.

A lot of risk is taking someone at #3. Not only do you have to hope they hit their potential, but then we are able to keep them into their prime. Dame's loyalty is the exception, not the rule.
