Whether you or I like it or not, we're not trading Lillard unless he expressly asks for a trade... and that probably won't happen.

Just shows the unhealthy hold he has over the organization. Does that include deciding which of his teammates to trade?

It never has before. Every friend Dame's made on this team has been traded.

You seem to be changing the topic. You said that two all NBA players and Sharpe and Grant could not make the playoff and that Brown is just terrible.

Trading Dame is an entirely different discussion and one that we have 50 other threads on.

Exactly! And to say the Blazers adding a second All NBA talent won't lead to winning and the Playoffs is asinine. The only way they don't make the playoffs, and potentially have a chance to make a run, with said added talent , is if there are catastrophic injuries.

Dame, Brown, Sharpe, Grant and Nurk(?) would make the Playoffs for certain outside of injuries.

Would they be a contender? No, but they would make the Playoffs. And that is my struggle with trading young/future assets for Brown or any of the other oft mentioned possibly available players. It doesn't make us a contender. Possibly 1 team in the last 40 years was built around a small, offensive minded, ball dominant scoring PG and that was the 76'er team lead by AI...and they lost in the Finals, never to return again. Teams that win just aren't built that way. It doesn't diminish Dame's talent or accomplishments. It's just the way things are in how the ultimate success is achieved in the NBA.

I really think we have 2 or 3 of the same posters opening new accounts in order to bash Dame with the same dumb takes, over and over

Congrats on completing your first week here. And of course that's mediocre. It's four players. You need five to be above Mediocrity

I think that group would contain for playoffs spot but the biggest problem that Portland has is quality players coming off the bench. There a big drop off in quality on this team after the 6th or 7th player on this team and I am pushing it on the 7th player.

Um...what? Not sure there was a shadow.....or if there was, that he has emerged from it. In my world, if a player feels they are in someone's shadow, that is created in their own mind.

Play your game, and any deserved elevation will follow.

But we wouldn't be adding Brown or Bridges. We'd lose both Ant and Hart.

Would we be better? Possibly, maybe even likely. But is that marginal improvement worth the #3 pick? I have a very hard time saying yes.

All this shit is depressing, not as depressing as the fact in my lifetime the Blazers have won NOTHING that matters but still depressing.

Just saw Dame the GM is interested in playing with the Nets. I believe we can get Claxton back which would give us a starting lineup of Scoot, Ant, Shae, Watford/Winslow and Claxton.
We let Grant walk, maybe sign and trade him for a pick, start looking for destinations for Nurkic (hopefully not for a proven loser like Ayton, we can still roll the dice on someone younger, look what the Magic got for Vucevic, I ain't saying we're getting all that but Ayton is trading for someone we would hate from day 1)

Ok, here's how I see it, it came to me like an epiphany.... we trade Dame and Nurk to the Nets for a package around Claxton plus we need to pick the right players, definitely not Spencer Dinwiddie but I would try to get eithet Seth Curry or that young player they have that got in trouble for calling Dinwiddie gay. He had like 4 40 plus games in a row at some point. Also wouldn't mind Finney Smith for his defense

i dont want to move the pick and STILL be mediocre, id much rather keep the pick, move people and be mediocre. at least there is some future option there.

i dont think aiming to be mid in perpetuity does much for us unless we are happy to just always been in playoff contention and bounce in r1.
