We got the #3 pick. Discuss the possibilities.

?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Not enough to justify trading the #3 and thinking we have any shot.

Let’s add that Siakam STARTED as an All Star too.

I think Siakam could be a good pickup. He would still leave glaring holes in other areas but he sure fills a lot of holes (all nba defense that is versatile, rebounds extremely well, both initiates offense for himself and facilitates for others extremely well) the problem I would have with giving up the 3rd pick in the draft in exchange for Siakam is just the fact that he could leave after one season and then in effect you rented a non superstar all nba level player for the 3rd fucking pick in this draft. I don't think it's a gamble we should take but if we do I hope it pays off... he does answer a lot of questions that this roster is asking.

That's ridiculous. You have no idea how he'd play next to Dame, or what the Blazers could accomplish. Pretty sure an awesome talent added to a Dame led team can yield a pretty nice return in wins and potentially something special. I take proven over unproven when the proven player is still great.

That's fine and everything but right now he is extremely overpaid for even the output he delivered during the 20 game run you are referring to. So he is still taking on a bad contract and Bridges isn't worth the 3rd pick on his own, so he definitely isn't worth the third pick when tacking on a bad contract that might just turn things back around. It would be a cool gamble if it was a value move, like we were getting extra value along with Simmons... in this case we would be taking Simmons off of the Nets' hands in order to get a player in Bridges who isn't even worth the price we're theoretically paying for him in this trade idea. So again... cool throw Simmons in somehow but we better be getting Bridges and Claxton if we are giving the Nets pick 3.

God it's hilarious that everyone is looking to trade their picks except San Antonio.

This is such a bizarre draft.

I’d rather have Porzingis than Nurk. I hate Nurk though.

I think we're starting to see the value of being in the top 3, and it seems like Charlotte is seeing some of the rumors and thinking maybe trading the pick is a better move for their roster.

I'm just not sure how much value the third pick has if Charlotte trades their pick.

A lot of draft experts don't think very highly of him.

I am going to end this Siakam thing by saying this and not saying another thing on this topic unless he becomes a Blazer. I never said he was not better and I guess it's partly my fault I was not clear on one thing -- he is better then Grant but not by much and considering this would prolly be the only big move then it would not be enough to push the Blazers even into being a contender specially with what would need to be given up to get him. Also prolly a mute point cause there GM wants it all and hell would prolly turn down Wemby for him and say he wants 2 or 3 more 1st's since the Rap's GM is delusional on the value of his players.

NO WHERE..... in that post or any other have I said that is "the lane I want." It continually fascinates me how I will post something and someone will quote me, and then attribute something to me that is nowhere in the quoted post. I do think one direction is better for the franchise than the other in terms of a particular direction or 'lane', but it isn't a personal want.

I would agree that outside of Denver, the West would seem to be fairly open, but the gulf between #1 and #4-6 might by quite the chasm and I don't see Portland getting much higher than that no matter how many young players or future Draft capital they through at the problem. Zion might actually be a path to how that could happen IF IF IF IF IF he came here, had a total change in discipline, food choices and dedication and became who he could be because he has the talent.

The 'IF's are monumental and I can't think of many success stories of players losing that kind of weight after getting paid, keeping it off and being productive.

Sorry I was not trying to put words in your mouth but it seemed which direction you prefer with this line:

"Sadly, at some point, it will be time to go in a new direction. Will that be with assets from Dame to support Sharpe or whomever is the next era, or will it be with an empty cupboard from chasing emotional dreams that had next to no chance of succeeding?"

I just don't think the cupboard necessarily will be empty.

Looking at this it has me getting my hopes up that we could do something like this
    upload_2023-6-14_11-12-13.png

    and this
    upload_2023-6-14_11-15-14.png

Adding Bridges, Claxtong and either Whitmore or Walker to be a legit PF off of the bench would be the kind of team transformation that would be huge.

    I listened, but was multi-tasking...
I don't remember what his comments on Scoot were. Can you summarize again?
