I think signing GP2 just had to do with Dame having the exact same injury and surgery and recovering in a timely manner. I don’t think they neglected the injury.

That is 37% of the games.

And he's owed 194 mil over the next 5 seasons.

    sheesh.

There was a podcast that did a really good job of breaking down just that. They said a trade with Portland would be more complicated than with Charlotte because other pieces would have to be moved or other teams involved. If I can find it, I'll post it here.

@STOMP there's really nothing more to be said than this. Evaluating Zion which of course they will and did with GP2, will be way different than evaluating GP2. The guy on Locked On today who is the Pels beat reporter said he just spoke with Zion and although the reporter said Zion looked like he usually did, Zion said he was ready to go. The reporter also said that it was his understanding that Zion wanted to go during the season but the team didn't like his conditioning so they held him out. Sure, that's a red flag but it's about if we can change his mindset not if he's physically flawed in some way. I think the team should make the gamble that they can change Zion's mindset.

I'm guessing because Charlotte could simply send Hayward for Zion to match salaries

Blazers would have to send Ant and that would be a crowded back court with Scoot, CJ, and Ant.

though when I think of it after salaries raise in July it might work with Nurk + Little + Knox/Keon

Whoever we would be drafting we would be rolling the dice so IMO why not roll the dice on Zion and go for the biggest high-reward player available even though he is also the highest risk? I do understand the logic against him but like I said I would still take the chance.

It works with all four of them but if you even take Keon's salary off it would miss by around 900k... after 125%.

Yeah but they can get some value from trading CJ or Ant so I don't think that is a big deal

no, it's not that big a deal, and if they draft Scoot they'd likely be shopping SC right away. But the Charlotte trade would be simple

I do think the Blazers might be able to get another decent to good asset if they diverted Ant to another team

It's a yes for me. Is it a huge risk? Absolutely. But the reward is also huge. I feel like there's a decent amount of people that have complained about the Blazers not taking chances over the years, who are...opposed to us taking a big swing like this. He's still plenty young enough to urn it all around, and if he did, it'd be an incredible duo with Dame, and then later an incredible one(potentially) with Sharpe.
All that said, I doubt they do it.

Healthy motivated Zion is absolutely be Dames best chance at a championship. There is not another other player that is available that gets him that close. That said a lot of questions around Zion. It would be pushing all your chips in.

is a championship possibility worth it or take the younger route and potential superstar in Scoot?

It is his head I worry more about than his body. He quit on them last year and now with all his babymomma problems who knows what he will bring to the court.

Your mind being boggled by people saying no to a player who is physically unable to play boggles my mind.
And who knows what's going on inside his head.

I like the concept of swinging for the fences on a player with All NBA first team MVP level upside. Zion legit has that.

A couple big problems though - first the notion that Dame could mentor him. I don't buy that, CJ is players union President and a great mentor as well, I just don't see Dame being able to give him anything different.

Secondly I don't see the Pels and CJ moving on from Zion unless the red flags are much worse than we all realize.

So we sit him until the playoffs. It just might work.

Zion is amazing when healthy. His efficiency is unreal. If available for 3+Keon, I'd do it

Comparing CJ’s leadership to Dame’s is so ridiculous. CJ can give a good interview or commentary but Dame knows how to lead people. He inspires the best in so many that have had success here then failed after.

I think Dame and Chauncey along with the jolt that being traded would put Zion in MVP position. So trade pick 3 for Zion and get what you can for Ant.
