I like the idea of Wagner, but he's just as bad of a rebounder as Grant is. We got killed on the boards last year, and that would continue if we had them starting alongside each other.
It's a good point. It's why I was never thrilled with Grant. A 'PF' that averages 4 rpg. Maurice, Buck and Grant roll their eyes with disdain.

Like keeping 3rd but prefer we trade 23 and get one of the worst trades in history completed so we can free up our future 1st rounders. Sorry little dramatic on one of worst trades just tired of having this draft pick hang over our heads
Maybe, maybe not. As a team, Orlando was 9th in rebounding...Portland was 25th. I remember when fans would bash Duck for his lack of rebounding yet the Blazers led the league in rebounding. Sometimes individual stats don't tell the whole story.
Houston at 4 and Detroit at 5 I heard both want to trade their picks for vets to win now - especially Houston. Houston new owner is impatient and wants to win, as well as they have so many young talented players wanting touches and wanting contract extensions they don't believe its good to add another one. Windy on ESPN mentioned all of this a week ago or so. Also said Portland was very interesting in getting a vet at 3 and wants to win now but values the pick very highly.
I feel like its only worth getting rid of that pick owed if we want to win now and free up firsts for other trades. If we are rebuilding its better to just let it ride, as then if we are in the lottery many years that debt becomes only a 2nd rounder. The Chicago trade I can see happening is acquiring DeRozen. If we can draft BPA at #3 but acquire DeRozen it gives Dame that veteran help to win now but retains are most important young high ceiling assets to rebuild. It's very similar to drafting Sharpe and acquiring Grant last summer.
true. However, Buck, Kersey, and Clyde were all top rebounders for their positions but to your point, you don't have to look that far back. JJ Hickson was a rebounding machine. He averaged 10.4 rebounds for Portland in 2012-13. But that season the Blazers were 24th in reb/game, 19th in defensive rebound rate, and 23rd in offensive rebound rate the very next season Portland replaced Hickson with Robin Lopez. Lopez average 2 less rebounds a game. Yet, with the rest of the roster pretty much the same, the Blazers led the NBA in rebounds/game, were 3rd in off. rebound rate, and 13th in def. rebound rate. Hickson failed to block out anybody most of the time. Lopez was big enough and had the BBIQ to block out somebody on every shot, on both ends of the floor, and sometimes managed to block out two people that was a primary reason that Portland won 33 games with Hickson and with essentially the same team won 54 games with Lopez. The Blazers did add Mo Williams and he was an underrated addition
More chatter that DAL is very open to moving the #10 for a center good in the PnR. Anyone here know anyone that fits that description?
set Dame and Doncic aside, and Dallas actually has worse assets than Portland. #10 would be nice leverage, but Dallas has nothing else worth moving Nurkic for the best I can cone up with is Nurk for 10 + Bullock + McGee. Not sure why Dallas would trade 10 for Nurk though. I'd imagine they could do better
Who knows who it could be. Just sharing what I heard. Didn't put any names to it. Nurk certainly might fit that profile, but as mentioned, DAL has very few assets to move or include.
Jake Stephens is 7' with a reported 7'10" wingspan and is a crush '3'-pt shooter. Then again, he is currently projected as an UDFA....and isn't really fat.
Thought this was interesting. In the last 4 Drafts, there have been: 16 18 21 24 trades made on Draft nights. Many pundits think that number could be even higher this year.
I'd be curious how many lotto and 1st round trades there are. We see a ton of irrelevant 2nd round ones for teams to buy sell picks or get a cheap minimum contract.
It doesn't seem much has changed since the OP. These teams are still discussing moves up/down or trading extra picks for future assets. Updated a couple of the notes: Charlotte - #2 - although that seems to have died down a bit Portland - #3/23/43 - #3 for the right price? #23 + player to get a vet? Houston - #4/20 - wants to move up Detroit - #5 would like to move up Orlando - #6/11/36 - don't want that many more rookies and want to grow into a Playoff team Pacers - #7/26/29/32/55 - very likely IND won't use them all Jazz - #9/16/28 - may use them all as they are building, but 3 1st is a lot to add in one year Mavs - #10 - might use it in a S&T for with Kyrie for Ayton although that seems to have died down Nets - #21/22 - the endless Dame chatter, though that seems unlikely
