I was critical of Ants showing the ball before he shoots, but it didn't seem to be a big problem for him. There were a few times guard up close with quick hands knocked the ball out while he was going up to shoot.

Simons is a top shelf athlete and can free himself up at will. Reggie was one of the games all time best shooters but required coming off constant picks to free himself up. I see Miller playing the way he did in college... out on the perimeter swinging the ball ready to shoot when open. Defenses will absolutely have to stay on his deep ball threat, so he spreads the court which is valuable. I don't see him as a great end of the clock option

Also, Miller didn't do the combine so the 6'9 listing is only that. Having seen him next to and against guys who were measured, the 6'9 is a w/shoes on then rounded up listing IMO. I put him at 6'7

looks to me like he's probably a couple inches taller than RoCo, and an inch or so taller than Harkless. RoCo was 6'6.25; Harkless was 6'7.25. I'd think Miller is around 6'8-6'8.25 w/o shoes

GG Jackson measured out at 6'8.25 without shoes. Do you think he actually looks taller than Miller?

Honestly, I'm not trying to be insulting but I think you get on a kick and then just say whatever to try and back it up. If I'm wrong just do some google image searches of guys you know measured around 6'9" who you saw looking taller when standing next to Miller, so you can show those of us who haven't seen it.

Trying to badger someone into changing their mind seems to be your specialty. That tactic never works but it is annoying

I don't buy silly optical dilution photos you think prove something. I've seen Miller on video next to the Thompsons and Black. He's a little bigger to my eye, not much. Too bad he bailed on the combine

I also find it fun to pretend I am a scout and analyze all the players in the draft....but some of our critiques over the years about a player's shot have been proven to be "much ado about nothing". (See Shawn Marion) It is fun to discuss, but in reality, we don't know what the fuck we are talking about. There are exceptions like Turner and MKG but for the most part, we tend to overanalyze.

I guarantee you that our front office and the Hornets definitely know how tall he is... I guess that doesn't do you or I a lot of good. I might do what your saying I do but that's a little bit of...

Didn’t look as sharp but he shot better than all of them? How’s that work?

    What are we doing here?

The best player in the NBA (Jokic), according to a bunch of you, wouldn’t be worth looking at because “he doesn’t love the game”, “doesn’t interview well”, and is about as athletic as a sloth so his “workout” would look like shit compared to Shaedon Sharpe.

This is another reason why I think so much of this shit about players slipping at this time of year because of interviews and workouts is misinformation. These teams have these guys (especially the guys at the beginning of the draft) so well scouted... they've seen them play both in person and on video for so many hours that a player would have to do something really wild to change these teams' opinions at this point in the process.

The Blazers and Hornets are gonna keep finding hidden inches on Scoot.

Yes, finding inches for Scoot and Miller is shrinking… pretty soon they will be saying Scoot is taller than Miller LOL

I don't disagree at all. My goal isn't to make Miller seem like a bad pick.

Scoot, Miller, and Amen (and probably Ausar) are all on the same tier - great all around prospects with All-star talent but with one major weakness in their games.

It's just a matter of....if they're all on the same tier, which one will help Portland best contend in the future?

This draft is for the #2 option on a future Blazers playoff team. Whoever Portland takes in this draft is going to determine if Portland has a championship window and how long it lasts. Again, we both agree that height matters here and since Portland has a good third option in Simons and since Dame should still be good for another four years, that means a lengthy and versatile wing/forward is the key.

I personally think it's Amen Thompson but understand why people may think it's Brandon Miller.

If Miller is left at 3, we take him over Amenu.

I know Portland has to look to the future past the four years Dame should be good, but my thinking is that the four years of Dame with Amen in this scenario severely limits Amen's strengths. So much so that it constricts Amen because dame is soooo ball dominant and Amen is best with the ball in his hands. Would Amen's game evolve playing with Dame for the four years of prime Dame? I'm thinking no, but am open to alternative views. If Amen was a great shooter, then yes, he would thrive with four years of prime Dame. But Amen is not a great shooter at this time. Would he learn from Dame? Maybe, but is Dame interested in tutoring another young'in when he said he doesn't want to go that direction. This is what has always brought me to Miller. He fits from day one. He is a 6'9 unicorn like Durant. Shooters shoot. I'm sure Dame could tutor Miller better. As in, ball fakes and driving to the hoop better, more often if the defender closes out. That is prime Dame putting a defender in the blender. Thoughts?

I swear, if Larry Bird was 19 y/o and in this draft he would not be drafted! Magic too, slow, could not jump.

I posted this earlier in this thread, but here it is again -

    upload_2023-6-17_16-19-53.png

I think Brandon Miller has similarities to both of these guys. And he favors on the high side of many of the advanced stats - Better PER, better ORating, better DRating.

    upload_2023-6-17_16-26-22.png

I'm hoping Charlotte drafts Scoot and the Blazers get and keep Miller. I think Sharpe and Miller together will make for a fun team to watch for many years to come.
