yeah, as I said above, I really liked what Hart brought to the floor; his skills and attitude. And I really wanted the Blazers to re-sign him. But when I saw that interview he gave I realized the Blazers were going to have a hard time keeping him. I didn't like that he was traded, but I understood what was behind that trade; or at least what appeared to be behind it. I don't blindly accept everything Cronin says, but what Cronin did say about the trade really dovetailed into what Hart said

 

If we are trading the #3 pick we better be getting something better than Randle. Not against having him on the team but sights needs to be set bigger or I keep the pick.

 

I didn’t say they didn’t matter, I said they’re not as valuable, so stop making shit up. A lot of things matter in winning a championship, but the fact is that 27/30 finals MVPs have not been point guards tells you something.

Curry also was not the best player on 4 of the last 9. 2 of those go to Durant. And the fourth went to Andre Igoudala although Curry was a better player. Curry is also one of the exceptions. Curry can also shoot from half court and arguably changed the game. Which is what I said about Scoot. He literally has to be arguably the greatest PG of all time for this “hype” to match reality.

Which brings me to my final point: People are drafting Scoot with the hope or whatever of building around him, which is a mistake IMO.

Bucks weren’t built around Jrue.
Nuggets aren’t built around Murray.
Warriors, as the exception that I already stated, yes and a couple of those teams were absolutely loaded (which is another thing I stated about Scoot.)
Lakers weren’t built around Schroeder.
Toronto wasn’t built around Fred Van Fleet.

So there is maybe 1 or 2 teams (other than the warriors) in 30 years that were built around a PG that actually won it all. (Depends on how you feel about Detroit and the Spurs and when Duncan “fell off” although they had Kawhi, so idk).

 

I would keep the pick but I think if we deal it then we we need to either trade #3 and contracts to Brooklyn (although if Scoot is gone not sure they go for it) for Bridges/Claxton or we trade Dame to them for a crap-ton of 1st round picks and Dinwiddie/Harris (expiring contracts). Either way, the Nets look like our best partner to either go for it or rebuild. If we are straddling the fence then draft Miller.
