I didn’t say that it did. But I also didn’t just act like there aren’t myriad variables at play here. Sports isn’t science.
But do you honestly believe, I’m wondering what @Natebishop3 and @Gronk_Brady and @Mediocre Man and whoever else thinks too, do you guys honestly believe a Dame trade will happen? I think there’s so much pushback from some posters just because it seems so unlikely.
No. They’ll cave or draft at 3 and try to appease Dame by trading other assets for vet friends and sign Green if Scoot is available, they’ll for sure trade my opinion
I don't think Dray will be taking the TPMLE and I don't think we're hard capping ourselves again with what we'll have to pay to keep Jerami and Matisse... also adding a significant salary with pick 3. That's not just because I fucking hate the idea of Dray on the Blazers. I honestly think the Warriors will pay Dray the most money and he will stay there and continue to talk shit about the team... it's just the type of guy he is. Not happy unless he has something to scream and complain about. I expect him to be the cohost of First Take with Screamin A within the next few years, I think he's already guest appeared before.
I don’t want to trade Dame if he is ok with keeping the 3rd pick. I just don’t want to mortgage the future to get a players like Bridges that don’t make the team a title contender. Only unique player that does both timelines is Zion, so I think that’s a gamble worth taking.
No one wants to waste the third pick... no one. I'm with you that paying the Nets pick 3 for Bridges is a big overpay. I think Bridges and Claxton for pick three if the Nets take Nurk and allow us to reroute Ant to a third team to give us more value could make sense with the Nets. I honestly think there is probably a move out there for the third pick that you would be happy with, that no one is talking about and that will probably be what we see go down on Thursday but who fucking knows. This team could have a second all nba guy on it when this upcoming season tips off, it could be a total youth rebuild or anything in between. This is for sure the most unknowable time I've ever seen as a Blazers fan. The one thing I think I know is that Shaedon will be on the roster when next season tips off but that's it and I only think I know that one.
Having heard new W's GM Dunlevy speak today at his introduction and say (roughly quoting) "we love Draymond and aren't a contender without him" I'd put the Blazers chances of signing him solidly around zero. To acquire him, the W's would have to agree to a S&T with Portland (following the GPII bad blood) where they'd be taking back Nurk or Ant in a salary swap. Why would they want Ant when they've got Poole or Nurk at all? STOMP
Oh and by the way, you are the only one that remembers me from years ago… and the reason I got banned was because people would insult me for constantly complaining about CJ, and the teams refusal to trade him… and I was baited into stooping to their level by insulting back. I was the fist and loudest voice in here against the Dame/CJ pairing. I turned out to be correct on that one. I don’t post unless I have a very strong feeling about something. I felt the need to come back because we were handed a quick rebuild on a silver platter by winning the 3rd pick in this draft to pair with Sharpe… and I don’t want to throw that away. If we give up such a valuable asset, it should be for near guarantee threat to compete for a title… and only Giannis, Embiid, and a healthy Zion would ensure that IMO, and only Zion is available at this time. I just think it would be an epic mistake to trade #3 pick for someone like Bridges who is good, but not good enough to change the team fortunes… and I want a title, not just playoffs.
Is there any GM right now who doesn't pubically say they love the players on their roster and their spot in the draft? I agree a S&T isn't likely, but for different reasons. Getting him for MLE almost seems more likely, and that doesn't seem likely at all!
OK trade Dame crowd let's just say that the Hornets take Scoot or trade pick 2 to a team that takes Scoot. Then let's say we just take Miller. Then Joe goes to Dame and tells him that he thinks the best move is to keep Miller, that he thinks the most value is to pick at 23 and that Ant isn't going to bring back as much value as he has on our roster. Then Joe also says that Brooklyn has called and offered a haul and Joe has called Phoenix and this is what's available. Dame gets to play with Bridges, Claxton, DFS, Simmons who maybe Dame thinks he can straighten out, Cam Johsnon, Royce O'Neal and Patty Mills. We get to tell Brooklyn who to pick for us at 22 and 22, get two future firsts and a young starting C. Most likely rotation for us is Ant, Shae, Miller, pick 21, Ayton, pick 22, pick 23, Nas and Knox. I do not want this to happen. I want Joe to finally swing for the fences and put a roster around Dame in a Blazers uniform that can contend. I guess this is just my faith in Joe wavering and me taking Dame at his word the last time I heard him speak.
I have no idea. I have no clue what this team is going to do. If they take Scoot or Miller and intend to keep them, I have no idea what Dame will do. I know what he said but will he follow through? But there’s what will happen and what should happen.
Portland will NOT be landing any 2023 draft picks in a Dame trade. I don't care how many logical contortions you go thru, it just won't be happening
Jerami walks and we want Ayton because the dude is just as young as Ant and he has all star potential. Him and Ant would be the two guys with the most experience (still just 24) actually it would be Ayton by a mile because he's been starting since he got in the league. So we feed the dude that has a lot of experience but has never been consistently fed on offense and we see if he becomes a monster... in a good way.
I think we have to try to do a sign and trade for Grant. Or sign him and then trade him at the deadline. We can’t let an asset like that walk for nothing.
