?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Forget Patty Mills, I would want DFS or Cam Johnson instead.

    1) Draft Miller/Scoot at 3

    2) trade Ant + 23 for DeRozan and all Portland's picks back

    3) keep powder dry and wait for opportunities

and it's one of my least favorite options but Nurk + Little + Keon for Ayton. Vulcans would probably veto it though

I don't see Dame getting mad but at some point doesn't he have to look Joe in the eyes and ask if Joe is ever going to be able to pull off the big move that will get this team in position to contend. Joe can show Dame his texts and that he only had bad moves on the table but if you were Dame wouldn't that just make you wonder why Joe couldn't get good moves on the table. It's the fucking third pick in a three player draft... Dame has stated in a way that cannot be mistaken that he wants win now moves. I don't think it will make Dame mad I think it will make Dame sad and make him say, "Find the best place for me that gets the Blazers the best return."

I don't think that Miller gets us closer to contending next year and probably not the year after. For me I want Dame to stay but if we're going with Miller we should probably be smart and tell Dame that we'll find him a good place because we're obviously building for like four years from now and there's no guarantee that Dame will still be at his best by then. Fuck, I just want Joe to be able to trade the third fucking pick in a draft that everyone agrees has three guys that are likely all stars, package that fucking pick with Ant and whatever and get us a much better squad around Dame... most likely with a second all star and a better bench.

My wheels are spinning a little and the truth is Joe might come through for Dame and for all of us but all we've seen him do to this point is punt by not making moves or making moves that seriously look like a team that's rebuilding and not worrying about contending anytime soon.

So we'd have Dame, Shae, DDR, Jerami, Ayton, Scoot/Miller, Matisse and the TPMLE??? I think that might be enough for Dame.

I don't think we can get Cam Johnson because his sign and trade would be too expensive to make salaries match and it would hard cap us which I don't think we want when we're trying to fill our bench while re-signing Jerami and Matisse... also a S&T means pushing all of this shit out a couple of weeks. DFS though... sure why not?

as I said in another thread here earlier today:

one of my biggest complaints about the Olshey era was that Olshey straddled every fence in sight. He never picked a lane, other that giving all his love to CJ. Pick a lane dammit

but ironically, right now might be the perfect time to straddle a fence. Keep the pick, make a smaller trade or two, and see how the roster looks next season

Good points regarding Cam. I would definitely be interested in Bridges, Claxton, & DFS though.

I could be OK with it but I'm really really hoping that Joe pulls off something big with pick 3. Just got to wait and see and freak out speculating about a whole bunch of shit we have no fucking clue about.

I appreciate the fact that you just assume good deals have to be there or our GM sucks. Lol. It takes two. Stop assuming. (And yes, you are assuming).

What if JOE had good deals and the other teams said no? You won't know that.

It's really quite simple. You're only frustrated because your expectations are centered around assumptions. It is fun to watch though lol.

I get it Mr. Zen. That being said, it's very obvious that Joe has punted every time he's had the chance. I think deal makers make deals happen of course it takes two or more to make a deal eventually go through but I think these guys have to put pressure on their competition and drive things to make them happen. They can't wait for the big deal to come to them. I get it that they might run into road blocks but honestly if Joe can't get the deals done to put a competitive team around Dame then he can get a deal done to get us a lot of assets to build for the future and get Dame to a place that will get him a roster that he can at least try and win with.

Another irony? I think that's actually the best thing to do, too. If we keep the pick (and don't pass on Scoot) and make no other deals, I won't complain too much as I think it's sort of following the hippocratic oath of GMing.

This is not a 5 team trade these are four individual one team trades. You will notice that after the first trade no players are aggregated meaning only one player is going from one team to the other. We send out Ant, Nas, pick 3 and pick 23 and end up with Zion, picks 26 and 29. With 26 and 29 I would pick upperclassmen ready to contribute off of the bench with 26 Trayce Jackson-Davis a PF-C and at 29 a SF-PF like Prosper or Jaquez. If Jackson-Davis is gone at 26 then take one of the SF-PFs and then draft GG Jackson at 26.

It cut off the last trade that is pick 21 to Indy for picks 26 and 29... we would probably also send cash.

I think the blazers will keep the 3 pick and trade a future first packaged with players Friday. I'm thinking the tangible 3rd pick is too valuable to us compared to the hypothetical future.

Edit: it's a way to thread the needle.

If Dame, Ant and Scoot are on this roster to start next season we're the dumbest team in the league.

Even if they agree in principal to re-sign or extend with is how the heck can we afford them? Pascal will want 40plus mil and OG probably 30 mil on new contracts, OG
I think its 80-90% BS, but if we do keep the pick and do little else (and keep Ant) I would think Dame asks out and perhaps that is what mgmt has decided on? Who knows as its all guesswork/BS dart throwing at this time.
