I think you keep him until the trade deadline. By then, if he wants out, you ship him out. Of course, this depends on if you draft Scoot or not. If you draft Scoot, he should be gone by July. But I want Amen and I will chance it with the hope that Dame decides he likes the direction Amen points the Blazers in and everyone moves forward together.
I agree with this. Dame is still playing the best basketball of his career, and him sitting in meaningless games just helps prolong his prime. Dame is in the gym enough that I don’t think the time off will affect his play. I think he’d command more assets when teams actually see him play. But I also believe Amen can be a big reason to why he stays. And having Dame on the team only helps Amen and Shae in the long term. Amen and Shae would become the premier backcourt or wing duo in the NBA in five year’s time.
Another reason to keep Dame, I’m seriously surprised with the number of people who would consider trading Dame and letting Grant walk for nothing. Dame on the team is the only way to keep Grant. If we trade Dame at the trade deadline (if he wants out), we can also capitalize on Grant’s value. Grant has a skillset that makes him moveable even at $30-32m/year.
