If we were planning to draft/keep Scoot, then I'd probably do it simply to help balance out the roster, but it's not a sexy idea!

It could still happen! We don't know how desperate the Blazers are to keep Dame.

    Simons/Little/future picks for KAT

    Nurk for a sign-and-trade Draymond.

    Draft Scoot.

    Dame/Scoot
    Sharpe/Scoot
    Grant/Thybulle
    Draymond/Watford
    KAT/Eubanks???

for the next week or so, Zion is poison pill. That means that if New Orleans trades him they get a trade credit of his current salary which is around 13M. But the team he's traded to is accepting a trade debit of the average of his current salary + his total extension. IIRC that's around 34M. New Orleans can only take back about 18M in salary. The Blazers would have to send out a minimum of around 27M. That's about a 9M differential that would bust the trade legally

the Pels could add more salary on top of Zion's. But the Blazers would have to make up for that in the differential calculation

it's much easier to simply agree in principle at the draft, and complete the trade on July 1 (or whenever the moratorium lifts). There could be a 3rd team involved around the draft, but that 3rd team would likely just steal value from Portland and New Orleans

as for KAT....I'd be certain that the Vulcans would NEVER sign off on Portland having a 2nd super-max contract. DOA

Worst thing ever to happen to KAT was winning that 3 pt contest.

I know this is probably a joke but COVID was probably the worst thing to happen to him. He lost his mother and I think a few other family members to COVID. He hasn’t been the same guy ever since.

    you cant be serious

kat can score for sure, but he cannot defend and his effort is questionable, on top of that, hes had a lot of family tragedies, makes you wonder how much he cares about bball (he also secured himself and his family financially)

pg 13 with all his injuries is better option than kat

that being said, i wouldnt trade #3 for neither

The good news is it's all moot, but yes, dead serious. PG's best days are WELL past him. KAT at least has untapped potential and, due to his issues, would be coming cheaply.

    So is this deal dead?

Any more details of what the rumor was?

Just hoping like hell we're keeping Scoot.
