James Harden came off the bench for the first three yrs of his career and even made the finals.

He hasn't been close to sniffing the finals since.

He’s played enough to make 2 All Star teams.

So we will take the best asset that we've had since Dame has been here and draft someone who is yet another small guard and likely will just back Dame up and is the kind of youth Dame said he didn't want... and Dame will just be cool with that when we have such glaring needs at other positions?

And we should just discount the aloofness of his most recent interview where he says, "they should do what's best for the team." and "I’m not in there trying to make a decision or anything like that. I do my job." Come on the guy is either playing dead because there is trade he likes that he's trying not to screw up or he is done with this team.

Dame, Sharpe, and Scoot can absolutely work. Ant would be the odd man out if he can bring in a vet at forward.
I am good with keeping Scoot or trading him for a star.

    Fuck it.

Draft Scoot at 3, trade Dame to the Raptors for Barnes and Achiuwa and pick 13, then and select Leonard Miller.

I have to agree with this given all that Dame has said, and the fact that Portland management will feel compelled to deal Dame to where he wants to go. With that, if Portland drafts Scoot and keeps him if no trade value is there, Portland needs to have that discussion with Dame now. They need to work the best deal they can with Brooklyn or Miami, and then start calling other teams making a three or four team trade if needed. Brooklyn has expiring contracts available that other teams might want. Many lottery picks are available. I personally would like to see Portland get the right one and draft Lively if he is as good as is now being projected. If we are moving Dame, and he can't be moved until July 10 I believe it is being reported, a deal sitting there for two weeks can become huge in number of teams/players. Get the ball rolling if this is the cards being dealt.

Cool, so we're going to go with another small guard next to Dame... fucking brilliant. The only reason I don't care about this idea is that Dame just got done saying he doesn't want to play with more youth and that is exactly what Scoot is. If Scoot is here Dame is gone and if Dame is here we'll likely have Zion.

It would be shocking as hell if we decided to roll with Dame, Scoot, Shaedon, Grant and Nurk (or even a Nurk replacement) it's just too fucking small and we've already been through this how many fucking times? How many?

Until the smoke clears I'm just going to act like everything is a smoke screen.

Right now I think we could have a reported trade that lands us Zion and WCJ by the end of tomorrow night and that we'll have a good bench piece drafted with pick 23 maybe an experienced guy like Trayce Jackson-Davis.

We could have a rotation queued up of Dame, Shaedon, Jerami, Zion, WCJ, Matisse, Nas, Trayce and a PG we get with the TPMLE Javon Carter. I'd say if healthy and I know that's a big if, that will be the best rotation Dame has played with in his career.

Dame supposedly also doesn’t want to mentor and that’s exactly what he’d be doing with his eventual replacement.

Yeah, he's just not going to be here if Scoot is here. It's the exact situation he said he wasn't down for in those interviews everyone here has watched by now. His aloofness in the new interview is either staying out of the way of a trade he likes that we're working on or the first sign that he is done with our team. That's it. I'm not going to say that with certainty because who the fuck actually knows anything but it's pretty damn close to being certain.

Yeah that quote “do what you think is best” totally feels like that situation where you ask your wife or girlfriend if you can go out to the strip club with the guys and she says “do whatever you want.”

And how do you propose we get a Serge Ibaka (nearly DPOY and all-defensive first team) and Kevin Durant?

OKC's three best players, Harden, Durant, and Westbrook could actually play real minutes together as well, since they aren't all midgets.

    Imagine trotting out:

Dame Scoot Sharpe together. Undersized at 2 of 3 positions while OKC wasn't undersized at any, and ... had KD.

is that it undercuts the legitimacy of what you're saying especially when taken to absolutes?
