Massive wingspan. 9 points, 7 rebs in 19 minutes on .637 shooting. Had a thumb surgery last year that kept him out of part of the season.
That would be a LOT to give up for an old/injured Hayward, a young center who played 1/2 of his first year, for a pick swap.
Again, you have to assume it would be for Scoot, as trading Ant doesn't make nearly as much sense if you are aiming for Miller. Ant-Sharpe-Miller at least makes some sense at the beginning of a rebuild. Ant-Scoot-Sharpe really doesn't... although I would also assume that the Blazers would be equally enamored with getting Mark Williams who REALLY came along (at least in terms of production) as the season went along.
Yeah, you'd need to really like that young center (which I do). Mark Williams had a thumb surgery as recall to start the season, but if you look at his game log towards the end of the season (granted they were in the middle of a tank), there is a lot to intrigue. I liked him last year coming out of the draft, and while he may have some limitations guarding on the perimeter, he is such a vertical threat on offense and defense with his length and bounce. For those looking for a younger and cheaper Jarrett Allen, this might be a guy worth taking a shot on.
Totally plausible. I have heard reports that nobody wants to go to Charlotte. That their team is dysfunctional. Seems like both Scoot and Miller are trying to maneuver their way out of Charlotte.
it's entirely possible, maybe even probable, that Portland has concluded that holding on to Ant doesn't make sense no matter which direction Portland goes
While that may be true, I'd assume that the Hornets are only willing to do this if they come out with Miller. I'm not sure Ball, Scoot, and Ant make a lot of sense from their perspective, and you'd have to believe that Ant is the more attractive piece rather than Nurkic, who would be the win-now bonus... and I do get the sense the Hornets want to win sooner rather than later if possible. Again, all of this is conjecture based on a really light rumor... so we are really just spitballing here.
Williams is going be good center. He young with massive wing span and going be real good rim protector. Hayward good quality player but have history of injuries.
*put my tinfoil hat on* Some interesting tidbits that could support Wiz's theory: There's no reports of Dame being at the Miller workout, but he was at the Scoot and Thompson workouts. We are releasing measurement data on Scoot. We are releasing reports about Dame and Scoot talking. Lots of rumors about Scoot for Zion. There hasn't been much smoke at all about how Miller did here. If we really liked Miller, and basically the reports have been that Charlotte wants Miller since the day of the lottery, we would have to really maneuver to try to convince Charlotte that Scoot is the better option. However.... we might also be doing all these things to try to drive up the value on a Scoot trade.
Speaking of theories.... I know @Natebishop3 Will make fun of me for this, but I follow someone on Insta who a lot of the team and surrounding folk follow. @advicefrommeg (Megan Cronin). Aka someone close to Joe. Follows I found noteable - Brandon Miller - Mikal Bridges - Jaylen Brown - Zion - Brandon Ingram - Anunoby - Moe Wagner Does not follow: - Scoot - Amen - Siakam - KAT - Paul George 99.999% sure this means nothing. There's my social media scouring for this draft.
