What if the Blazers asked Scoot about Leonard Miller, since they were teammates? Just a rando theory.
Neither of those guys were 8 man rotation players, they were scrubs. We don't need a star this late, a 5th starter or 6/7th man is fine. Will Murray be that? Maybe or maybe not. I'd think Schmidtz has a reason for drafting him over the upside of Miller though.
Keegan: Kris: Note even close when they were on the same team. Kris played about half as much and was lower on everything other than, like, personal fouls. Of course, Kris had a very good junior year after Keegan left: Which, I think, demonstrates how much an extra year of maturity can help a player. But his junior year still looks like it was worse than Keegan's sophomore year (look at the FG%, the 3pt%... actually across the board he wasn't as good).
Welp after 11 pm here in NC fellas, I gotta hit the hay as getting up at 5 am to take some of my kids on a fiels trip to Raleigh. Enjoy the rest of the draft! And in parting, do think this was a good pick haha.
They were drafted as four year seniors, thinking they would be mature players that could slide right into the rotation, just like Murray. They were drafted in spite of their lack of upside because they were considered "safe". That they were wastes of picks is exactly my point. Hopefully Murray isn't one of those kinds of guys.
Watching his video just now I think he looks more like a PF. With a near 7' wing, he just needs to add about 10 lbs and play at about 225. He has a great 3 pt shot. He just doest look agile enough to guard SFs.
So far I'm really happy with the draft...Scoot and Kris. Last draft I wanted Keegan. Kris is NBA ready...great rebounder..3 and D PF..what's not to like? avg'd 20.2 his jr year so as a 3 year college guy he's Ant's age.
