Dear Joe Cronin, Please keep all 4 of Scoot, Sharpe, Ant, Dame. I can't wait to watch this team next season. Signed, one of your biggest critics who's tentatively thinking of taking all of those criticisms back.
So all three of them only play guard and they each play 32 minutes a game for all 82 games? No nights off. No injuries. No two of them in foul trouble at the same time. What are the odds of that happening? If it doesn't, what do we do? Sign a dude that doesn't belong in the NBA and have him play minutes? Why should we do that?
No to ant. Don't need him to eat playing time up from scoot and sharpe's development. But yes to Dame, Scoot and Sharpe
lol...as if those are the only options at guard Thybulle plays guard. Mays can play guard. Portland has a MLE and they have a 8.3M TPE they also have a 6'3 SG who can't rotate to wing, plays about the worst defense in the NBA, and makes 26M/year
honestly, I think I was more impressed with Knox than I was with Reddish. And I don't care if Knox is re-signed
Mays... yeah. A great option. He's going to be 26 in two months and has played in 67 career games. The NBA is all clamoring to get HIM in their rotation. Why not name drop Brandon Williams? Hah. And Thybulle is a defense-only fringe player who presumably would play small forward (the position that, you know, we have no one else at). Ant makes about $26m a year over the next three... where he should improve since he's only 24 years old. That's not rookie scale-type value, but it's not bad given his ability to shoot the ball and score generally. That he can "only" play both backcourt spots isn't really an issue to me.
Shams claims Dame has given them until the deadline to get a vet or he asks out. https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania scroll down a bit I think he is as good as gone unless they do something like get Zion etc.
Or we're in the top four or five in the conference at the deadline, which I think is a real possibility if we can add another big to the rotation (with the MLE?) Assuming some health, and Grant returning, and Scoot and Murray getting minutes in the rotation (along with the potential big addition to the rotation), this team is pretty darn good.
What if Blazers trade Scoot for Zion and Zion is injured the whole year. Would Dame not ask out then? I'm fine with keeping Dame. But if he is telling Cronin/mgmt that he will ask out in x months if y doesn't happen it's probably better to just explore trading him now, if a good deal is available. Also need to think of the Grant contract, I sure as hell don't want to give him a $150 million boat anchor contract. Might be better to explore trades with all our vets.
Agree. A lot is gonna depend on what Chauncey can do after the roster is done. Dame/Ant? Scoot/Matisse Shae/? Grant/Murray/? Nurk?/?
NAS is under contract. Yes Eubanks is a non bird free agent. Also we got Watford. Technically Matisse is not on the depth chart as he is a restricted free agent, but sounds likely he will be signed or matched. But I guess same can be said of Grant. Seems like the Blazers need to decide if Dame is committed or not. If not it might be better to let Grant and or Matisse walk.
Y'all are totally overlooking Watford....The guy has the tools and plays hard. This is the year he breaks out.
