A generational talent, imho, is limited to the MJ, maybe Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, Lebron, Steph of the world and maybe Zion, Webmy. Dame is a superstar - which is even more impressive because he is not a huge guy with amazing physical tools nor is he an amazing shooter like Steph is. I would argue that on talent alone, Sharpe is probably closer to a generational talent than Dame is. The correct question is, will he be able to harness it - and how far up the hill can he push it? All Star? Super-Star or a real generational great like Kobe, for example.
Agreed. People throw around generational way too easily. I agree with your list. Generational guys are extremely rare. They instantly turn your team into a contender. I'm not even sure if Steph is generational because really all he brings is shooting. Not much else. Every other dude on your list played really good defense.
I understand the question about Steph, but his shooting is so ridiculous - that I believe it is worth mentioning, also because he combines the ability to shoot that efficiently both as a ball handler and as a catch and shoot threat off movement. That's just something that is super rare at the rate and efficiency he does it.
This all really just depends on where Dame is at. If Dame wants to be traded now then it changes who our targets become, if he wants to be traded if big moves don't happen before free agency in that two week window that Cronin mentioned last night then again we have different targets. I don't think we can really predict much about the direction of our roster right now when only yesterday we decided to do exactly what Dame said he wasn't here for and Cronin hadn't talked to Dame about it at that point.
I agree. Steph is the best shooter of all time. Not just his range, but his insane efficiency. So yeah, he could be put on the list, but I still think everyone else played really good defense.
Dang man. He was 25 points shy from breaking Marovich’s NCAA scoring record in his last game and scored 22. 3 points shy breaking the record, by the dude who broke the NCAA 3 pt record. Why wasn’t he taken by anybody else as an UDFA. I’m all about this dude. Upside - Lethal 3pt threat. Nothing wrong with having someone automatic open from 3.
Realistically as an UDFA I figure there are a lot of teams that call and then it comes down to a decision on what the player/agent thinks is best? I don’t even know how the rights work for the G-League but if we can have him on contract and not on our roster then this is an A/B+ at worst.
Tremendous shooter, but not much else. Doesn't finish great inside of '3', not a PG, not a very good defender.
We didn't know we had the 3rd pick when Dame asked for vet help...not the same as the 7th pick at all in this draft...Dame knew exactly why on Tuesday..fans might be disappointed but Dame probably isn't.
