No need to rush this unless you actually have something ready to be accepted. This is likely a decision that depends on Dame's decision -- if Dame wants out, that pick instantly becomes a likely lotto pick and resets our timeline. If he wants out we're rebuilding and will very likely end up giving Chicago a lot less for it overall PLUS not really need the ability to trade future 1s. Definitely think we need to keep in close contact w/ Chicago on it -- which it sounds like we have -- but making a snap decision on it "just in case" would be unwise. Regardless of what future drafts are or aren't looking like.
Who says no: Ant for John Collins Ant & Nurk for DeAndre Ayton Ant & Nurk for KAT Ant for S&T Harrison Barnes? Ant for OG Struggling to find a lot that gets me excited...
Collins and/or OG at leasts gets you some semblance of balance. I love the idea of KAT but think this team is too cheap to pursue him.
OG would be perfect Chicago as a OK option Julia Poe: Update on Lonzo Ball from AK: “He’s recovering nicely. Last month he got off the crutches. … Everything is going well. Going into the off-season, our expectation is that he’s not coming back next season and he’s gonna continue on his recovery. If he comes back it’d be great.” Source: Twitter @byjuliapoe
Any idea that has Ayton in it is silly and stupid -- Ayton got paid now he has turned into a unmotivated bum so he is such a non-starter -- however IF Grant is not retained then I could see it happen. I am not saying I would like it but my guess is the front office would be like let's just get talent in and PREY it works.
Yeah, trying to work backwards... Even with trading Ant, we're clearly well-stocked in the back court and Grant + Sharpe + Murray + Tise + Rupert should account for quite a few wing minutes, so its looking like either a big upgrade at 3 or 4 or just consolidating to upgrade Nurk. KAT's deal is similar to Zion's -- risky but with relative youth and enough years on the deal to play out -- could end up being a value...
I understand that people want things simple, but the world isn't black and white. You -- and others -- seem to want to view everything in absolutes and that's just not reflective of reality. Ayton hasn't been consistent, agreed there. Yes, he's currently overpaid. But that doesn't mean that he'll always be that way (to say nothing of what Nurk is and isn't...) People and situations change and evolve. At absolute minimum, the current version of Ayton is probably an equal contributor to Nurk, much younger (and young enough to turn his career around) and a much better fit for Chauncey's system.
I don't think it is because they are too cheap. They have tried to trade for other players with high contracts. The issue is that 55 million for a center is not smart.
I think 2 players probably be in a different uniforms next year Simons and Little and possibly Nurk. Nurk might be traded if they can find player to replace him that's works in billups defense scheme. But I won't be surprised if he in a blazers uniform starting of next year. Simons I believe is gone to try upgrade other positions and there's already rumors that's Cleveland is interested in Little I see a trade between us and Cleveland happening.
That's why I was desperately hoping we wouldn't trade the pick. We needed to have that "guy" to meld and mold that could be a difference maker while Dame was still Dame. This is best of both worlds, IMO. And scoot and shae is a nice damn foundation if it all pans out.
Time to dust off those Ant trade proposals. Wonder if the Wizards want to go for a Pool-Simons backcourt...
yeah I would rather have the Brooklyn package but think Dame will have choice between 3-4 teams (Miami, Brooklyn, Philly and dark horse Chicago). Draft picks, young prospect and pick swaps.
If Joe has any sway left with Dame after last night then I would say Ant but I feel like last night was the exact opposite of what Dame was asking for and will likely result in Dame asking out and being traded. For those saying it will be to Miami come on. It will likely be to Brooklyn because even though the picks are spread out over time they have a bunch, they have the rights to two guys they just drafted, they have Claxton and they have expiring deals in Dinwiddie and Harris. That's so much better than anything Miami can offer... Miami's best trade piece is a guard and we just spent the last two drafts taking guards who are likely the future of our franchise and both have way higher upsides than Herro.
