And he's a 6'2 PG. Listening to Cronin double back on his comments about youth and size that he made in his exit interview was cringeworthy to me.

Are you sure none of them are available?

In my opinion, negotiating trades in your favor is a skill. So at some point, never having the right trade available starts to look bad for a GM. But inactivity can always be excused with "there was nothing good on the table, so nothing they could do".

We need a GM who can execute a good win-now move if we want to keep Dame. Cronin has showed me nothing to think he's that guy.

Seriously, let's just take a step back. You claim he has a bad reputation, which I assume is based on fans in a team forum. It's not coming from anyone with a qualified opinion who understands the complexity of the job, unless I've missed something. I would truly be interested.

Every qualified analyst I have heard speak on the issue has confirmed that it was not only the only choice, but was the right choice to keep the pick and draft Scoot. We can agree on this, right?

In terms of his public statements, much like Dame's, they are very measured and what he has to say. For instance, you saw Dunleavy's comments about being excited for Poole's extension and him being on the team for however many years, which came 4 days before they traded him? You also saw how things were handled in Boston with Marcus Smart? Yeah, now that one was pretty shitty. Running a business is really hard, and a public business like this where you deal with crazed fans with emotional attachment to players on a basketball team...I could not imagine the challenges.

Give the guy a break. Let him do his thing.

Are there any web developers in here? Car restorers? Have you ever had a client come to you, and ask you to work on their website, and it's after another developer had already started the site? Worst possible situation. Trying to fix the work of another is so much harder than starting over and building yourself. Same applies to a car that has been previously restored, and they did a shit job. You don't want it.

Welcome to the world of Joe Cronin.

Why on earth would BKN shut down that offer? Maybe because they value size, length, and Defense??

Cause there is no truth to it.

FYI...NBA Central is a Twitter account run by a person no different than the voices you read in here. "Not affiliated with the National Basketball Association"

Sorry, they actually quote a blog run by a guy who is "A lifetime fan of sports, he’s witnessed countless great moments in different sports and understands that stories can be compelling from both the perspective of winners and losers."

Portland had 2 more draft picks, they could have used 1 of those to draft anyone the Nets wanted. Walker, Watford, S&T Eubanks. The Blazers have more assets. They used none of them. What happened to unlocking future 1sts and building a super duper team?

He was overpowered by bigger two guards in the low post regularly in the G-League.

They actually did use the picks to build our super duper team.

Literally every player on the roster Cronin has given a contract to. The top two assets (#7/Sharpe and #3/Scoot) Cronin got on his own.

What do you mean? Because he was working under previous GM's? Do you feel this is the same as running the team and building it the way you want? Granted, I like the guy a lot, and really like the direction he's taking the team. Fan bias, no doubt

Really happy with the draft. To me it was a no brainer draft and an A...I'd bet Dame feels the same. It's the free agency and trade market now that is interessting...Joe said he's planted some seeds moving forward now that the draft is over. He knows he needs to get at least two vets Dame really likes and probably a backup center. I grew up an Iowa Hawkeyes fan and wanted Keegan last draft but really happy with Kris this draft

I think we have some assets to actually build a contending team. It's obviously a concern when I hear people with actual knowledge of the complexities (as opposed to my ignorant fan perspective) who claim that the only way to build a team in a small market is through the draft. I think there is potential. And yes, I view Dame as an asset who can help with the process.

You watched a lot of G League Ignite games, did you?

Why was he guarding shooting guards? Who was defending the point guards for the Ignite team?

Scoot might end up as good as Dame. The teams that have what we want and would be worth Scoot would rather just have Dame.

So why would they get into a bidding war to wait 5 years as Scoot develops when that would hurt their chances at getting Dame now?

no disrespect to you or Dame. But I feel like you just crossed logic in your comments of Josh Hart and Dame. Care to expand?

They'd shut it down because they'd rather have Dame.
