Falcons | Abraham acquired in tradeTue, 21 Mar 2006 15:58:06 -0800Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the New York Jets have traded DE John Abraham to the Atlanta Falcons as part of a three-way trade between the Jets, Falcons and the Denver Broncos. If the trade is approved, then the Falcons will have traded their first-round pick, No. 15 overall, to Denver, who in turn will trade their first-round pick, No. 29 overall, and two additional picks to Atlanta. Atlanta then sends the 29th pick to the Jets for Abraham. The Jets would receive a draft pick two slots higher in the first round than the Seattle Seahawks were able to offer.Broncos | Team acquires No. 15 overall pick in Abraham tradeTue, 21 Mar 2006 15:58:39 -0800
Falcons get a third this year and a fourth in '07 I think.Anyways... the defense dominates. Now, we work on our offense.

Cant believe Broncos got the No. 15th pick in the draft lol. Nice steal for them. Falcons D-line should be pretty damn good with the addition of John Abraham. Hopefully Kerney/Abraham will be on fire this season.

I like it for the Broncos the best I think.I think the Falcons pick they gave up was a little to much, and like ya said..didnt get enough in the trade down to make it worth it.Jets made out OK as they did exactly what they wanted to.
Broncos stole in and got the best deal....they gave up their first and late rounders, for a full 14 picks earlier!

The Jets got their 1st rounder and everyone made out well. The Broncos may be able to find a replacement in the draft for Trevor Pryce. I hear something about the Broncos wanting to trade up to the Jets for pick #4 to get Mario.

Broncos the True Winner in Tuesday's Trade On Tuesday the long awaited deal to ship John Abraham out of New York was completed. In the rare multi-team trade John Abraham was sent to the Atlanta Falcons, his team of choice, the Falcons sent their 1st round pick (15th overall) to the Broncos, and the Broncos sent their 1st round pick (29th overall) to the Jets as well as their 3rd round pick (93rd overall) and a 4th round pick in next year's draft. All three teams got essentially what they wanted, so by rule all three teams "won" in this deal. The Jets' front office remained strong, got creative, and got the 1st round pick they wanted. The Falcons got their man in John Abraham, though they backed off of their steadfast refusal to give up their 1st round pick. The Broncos moved up 14 spots in the 1st round in exchange for a late 1st day pick, and a 4th rounder next year. This is a big steal using the age-old point system. If there is a winner there must be a loser, right? Yes, but that loser isn't the Broncos. The question must be asked, as it inevitably was by New York fans after the celebratory dust settled: "Why didn't we simply give up a 3rd round pick and a 4th next year to move all the way up to 15 from 29?"That's a tough question, because you know it was asked of them rather than the inclusion of the Broncos as it would give both the Falcons and Jets higher picks in this year's draft. The only logical conclusion is that Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum refused to trade these middle-round picks to the Falcons. This was a stupid move on his part as the value jump between the 29th and the 15th overall picks is a large one. 410 points in the system in fact. And the trading of these picks would have only been 271 points. Translation: It would have made the deal that much better for the Jets had the Broncos not been involved. In Atlanta the question arises: "Only a 3rd this year and a 4th next year?"It's important not to forget that the Falcons got one heck of a defensive end in John Abraham. However GM Rich McKay was seemingly steadfast in his refusal to deal the 15th overall pick. So the price-tag of McKay's word was two mid-round draft picks? This deal causes the Falcons front office to lose a bit of credibility as the resolve of their GM's word was tested and found wanting. The Falcons sold their word for 129 draft points. Translation: they were the team that buckled in this deal.In Denver the only question has to be: "How in the heck did we pull that off?"It's unknown at this point how the Broncos even came to be involved in this three team deal, but any Denver fan has to be elated at such a move. The Broncos now posses the 15th and 22nd picks in the 1st round, which is more than enough to move into the top 5 picks if they so chose, something that wasn't an option yesterday with the 22nd and 29th picks. It's been suggested that the Broncos would like to move up and acquire a QB with their picks. Whether they choose to do so, or stay put and fill multiple holes, the Broncos are the true winners in Tuesdays deal.
