We should AT LEAST start the season with Dame

Which lends credence to the thinking of him wishing we'd just be the ones to man up and trade him. The sad irony is if all of this had been kept in-house, I think a lot of better mutual outcomes could've played out -- really either way.

Clearly there's something there with Dame that I don't remember being there with Clyde (though to be fair I was a child and social media was not a thing) it's something beyond basketball and championships and individual careers, and it really seems like all parties involved are aware of and trying to preserve their part in it, which I appreciate.

I still think Dame wants to be involved in this franchise after his career, whether he forces his way out or not, and I think that window is still open, regardless of what happens this offseason, but it definitely narrows...

No, it doesn't... that doesn't even make sense.

Sure it does. If Dame is concerned about how he'll be perceived by the city and fanbase after he's gone, he would prefer to have simply been traded, not to have forced his way out. No one wants to be the bad guy breaking this thing up.

Pinwheel said that if he gets traded, he knows he's gone for good -- I took that to mean that if, after everything he's put out there, a trade actually happens, it means he'll have been responsible for that trade, and potentially tarnished his reputation here.

That all lines up in my head...

I'm sure it does. My point stands.

Your first problem is that you ever listen to national media.

I haven't listened to any of them in almost 8 years. They offer nothing.

You didn't make a point, you just said it doesn't make sense. Feel free to make an actual point before making smartass responses like this one.

Yeesh, your crackpot theory not making sense is a point. You're not very good at this are you.

That is not what I meant to suggest. My point is that 5 years away from somewhere, that is not your hometown, is a long time.
Over time you lose that connection to a city. (again unless it is your hometown) If he was to leave this summer I don't think he will ever come back to live. He will sell the home he just built never to return except to visit. It has nothing to do with how he is perceived by fans, just that other cities will take our place.

Fair enough, maybe that's true, maybe not. He's been gone from the Bay Area and from Utah for longer than that and clearly still has special places in his heart for them. And he was at Weber for a far shorter (and less successful) period of time than he's been in Portland. He's had a series of colorway of his signature shoe dedicated to the city for goodness sake. Maybe he won't come back to be our mayor but I don't think he'll sever ties with it if he leaves. He'll be around.

    This is dumb...
Dame LITERALLY cannot restructure his contract. It is expressly prohibited by the CBA.

He could start a GoFundMe to bring a free agent here.

I'd chip in $1 to bring Meyers Leonard back.

Im not going to go back and read the entire thread. Admittedly, I usually only skim most of the posts.

However there's nothing that bugs me more than people who moan & complain about things they have no clue about.

I saw your post complaining about Dame not doing his part in bringing talent to Portland- even suggesting that he should restructure his contract to do so.... which is literally impossible for him to do.

Not sure why my comment is so upsetting to you. But whatever...

Contempt prior to investigation. You didn't read the whole thread yet came to an lame conclusion. I've done nothing but defend Damian Lillard over the last year on here and you pick apart one part of a comment. Perhaps you should read more if you are going to comment.

I'm not upset at all. It's a message board and i don't know any of you. I'm not here to rustle jimmies, only speak my mind on my Blazers.
