Luckily, Dame is not in the same contract situation as Benedict Aldridge.

I can see this too. Dame knew what he was getting into when he signed a supermax last year. We can't constantly keep having this discussion of his commitment to the team every summer. He's not a free agent so I don't see the need to continually make recruiting pitches while he has his mouthpiece Haynes threatening trade demands on his behalf.

I think Cronin will present Dame the plan to make him the starting Point Guard of the Rip City Remix

I hope dame has the balls to ask out. It's best for both sides if he moves on and we go into rebuild mode. The fans won't hate you if you ask out dame. I want to see you in the finals even if it's on the heat.

Honestly if I was Joe I would want a commitment from Dame. I would want Dame to either tell me to trade him right now or that he's at least here until next off season. I kind of think Joe will be relieved if Dame demands a trade. He can knock that trade out pretty quickly and focus on the rebuild he has already been doing while saying he's not since he got the job.

I don't want the team to take the shitty package the Heat can give. They need to move him to the Nets or someplace that I'm not thinking of but the Heat don't have what it should take to get Dame.

When did fans start to think Dame would do something selfish that would hurt the Blazers cause in the end even if he asks out he does not want to go really but he will feel forced out by Jody Allen and lack of support he has gotten on the court. If you really believe this then as far as I am concerned you were never a Blazer or a Dame fan and you can pound sand. I hate having to be this much of a A-hole but when I see certain fans give Dame no respect after all he is done it really pisses me off and if you do not like my attitude well tough stop acting like a fool and the tamer version of me will return til then you get what you deserve the pissed off , man on fire version of me -- Enjoy

My guess is Joe and Dame have discussed trading the pick for a veteran such as Jaylen Brown or Mikal Bridges - maybe even Zion.

They both were hopeful that would be the direction of the team. The #3 pick is worth a ton and might have been able to acquire that level of player in other seasons, it just wasn't available this year.

So now they are having to discuss the direction of the team. Maybe Cronin has to "sell" the vision of what next season will be like to Dame and then they'll both agree to that. Or maybe Dame already wants out. Or maybe he will need time to decide. Its really hard to know. I just suspect Dame and Joe had thought they'd be able to acquire better veteran help in trades and that hasn't happened. Dame seems very logical in these type of things, so I don't think he'll necessarily feel Joe did anything wrong.

But Dame might not be sure if this is a situation he wants to stay in as this was not the plan they have been discussing in recent weeks and months.

that's not what I said you said...I never said what you said I said; at least I never said it in the lastest things I said in this thread

what I thought I said was that you had said for weeks that "Dame was clear in what he said"

does what I just said make it clear I never said you said "Dame would definitely be traded", but instead I said what you said was about what Dame said?

    fun times

Joe doesn't have the balls to make that kind of ultimatum.

Maybe his waffling is because Cronin tells him they will do one thing and then they don't do that.

Even if you agree with Cronin's moves, he flat-out said, "We have to go all in this year, the time is now".

His actions, thus far, even if you agree with them, are far from "going all in".

I'm not interested in the Cronin lied to Dame narrative, as it's possible that was his intent. But don't let your mouth write checks that your ass can't cash.

It certainly seems that is why Dame is waffling because he is constantly told we will do one thing, then told we can't because (insert excuse here) so wait until (the deadline, the draft, free agency) where nothing gets done and excuses are made again ... rinse and repeat.

Can't blame the guy for changing his stance.

"Fool me one time, shame on you. Fool me twice, can't put the blame on you. Fool me three times, fuck the peace sign. Load the chopper, let it rain on you." -

    No No No

I'm not trading 3 for any of those guys; I'm not even considering it.

I think if Dame goes back on not having an "appetite" to play with another 19 year old rookie, I would sincerely hope that he would come out and say that Scoot is different. He has openly talked about how Sharpe is not your average 19 year old. I would hope that we would get some kind of public conversation about how he feels about adding another rookie...technically three of them.... to our team. Clear the air. If he's cool with it, say so. Otherwise people are going to continue to speculate that he's pissed that we drafted his replacement.

It's comical watching folks try to impose their will/opinion of what they want to happen. Then paint it up as neutral.

I hope he stays, I hope he and the organization come to an agreement together on how that works.

Stop sugar coating your desire to dump Dame and rebuild as 'What's best for Dame is to go to a contender".

Jesus. And folks talk about Dame being misleading. Not talking about any one individual here. It's a ton and in general. Some may not even realize they are doing it

Cronin flat out said he told Dame of the strong likelihood of using the pick. I have no real issue with this. If the right deal didn't manifest, then this was the right thing to do at the draft.

But we have a bunch of assets outside of 3 that we have to use. Not sure Joe can or will use them.
