A youth rebuild would likely mean being under the cap for the next three or four seasons and getting paid from teams that actually go into the lux tax to try and win titles.

    Not by drafting Scoot.

He was fourth on my list. 1st. Amen 2nd. Miller 3rd. trade for star. 4. draft Scoot. Scoot is the most redundant if you are building around Dame.

They can't get logged in because of the couch GM overload from Blazer Two...

I'm not sure i'm exactly right on how @Chris Craig feels here but i'm not 100 percent convinced we are keeping Scoot.

This. I heard Cronin say two things after the draft: They picked BPA, regardless of fit; and he's not allowed to spend money to improve the team. What else can he do?

[Edit: That's me paraphrasing what I interpreted him saying.]

Does anybody besides me think that this meeting is more likely to be about Cronin’s upcoming moves than some big announcement about Dame? Joe has to make moves on Reddish’s and Thybulle’s offers, Grant’s new contract, a probably a couple of trades. His decisions on all of those things depend on whether Dame is going to buy in on the team for this season.

We are keeping Scoot....unless a can't turn down once in a lifetime deal comes...we are keeping Scoot. Cronin and the brass are high on him and think he will be a star...they hope he will.

Cronin will try to trade Ant/Nurk/Little/Keon/Knox. That and future picks. You know he is selling Dame on opening those picks busting a move.

Cronin wants to keep rebuilding around Dame with Scoot as part of that.

I missed the part where he said he's not allowed to spend money.

It's tough because whether they came close on trades (heard of a couple of discussions that didn't get very close, but what other teams were asking was ridiculous), is there really the assets and the time to get the Blazers to a contending level? Dame has had vets around him for most of his career. We can all debate how good those vets were and how Olshey worked around the fringes, but we traded a lot of 1st round picks for vets....they just weren't good enough. They now have actual young pieces that show a lot of potential and with the coming CBA, large contracts are going to be tougher and tougher to manage.

I've yet to see a legit proposal that we had enough assets/salary to bring in that would have improved us that much and it would have taken many of the few contracts we had left. It sucks, but that is where we are stuck at. They could still try to trade And/Nurk/Little, but what does that really get? What can they actually get in FA'cy? I hope they can put something together if Dame is going to stay here that will get us into Playoff range that isn't just hanging around the Play-In level.

But if he does decide to move on, I hope it is to a place where he has a chance to win like Clyde and Jerome did. Maybe the 'kids' grow into something special and he comes back and ends his career here on a team that has a shot in part with some of the assets that came in return for him.

We should be thrilled about the players we got in the Draft. I thought they did very well with each pick. Instead, it seems like there is this cloud over the team that we are waiting for the other shoe to drop instead of being able to celebrate the exciting young players that will be joining Shaedon.

We will see a trade or two. A few non current FA signings, Thybulle, and then finally Grant, as long as Dame buy in. I think he does...for now. He wants to believe.

Me paraphrasing what I thought I heard. He gave multiple answers that I interpreted as him low-key saying it in different ways, without coming out and saying it, which of course he can't do.

Joe would like for it to be about that and at this point maybe it's turned into that but Dame brought his agent. So at the very least Dame went into this meeting thinking that asking out was an option.

I don't know. A part of the meeting is Probably Cronin explaining in detail the offers he was given around the draft, what they meant, short and long term, and why he didn't accept

another part was probably explaining to Dame what the options could be over the next 2 weeks

That’s my point. If Dame was asking for a trade, it would be about a 10 minute meeting and a press announcement. This is about making moves that Dame will be comfortable staying for.
