Porzingis just did that 2-3 weeks ago.

That’s the rumor that so many Blazers fans are having a problem with.

We have a lot of players who can already swing to SF. I not as high on Oubre, either.

Yeah I do think this is a major possibility. Not so much Scoot specifically - that the team was aiming to trade the pick for an above average starter to pair with Dame. That wasn't available, so they are now pivoting all the way to a rebuild and basically putting Dame into a position he feels forced to ask out.

I don't think Cronin ever lied as some claim; there are so many grey areas with these statements and conditional ones. They can say "we are trying" to build a contender around Dame when they will only offer the pick for way more value then its worth. They aren't lieing, but it doesn't mean they are being totally transparent or committing all the way to building with Dame. Just because you don't lie, doesn't mean you are telling the most accurate complete truth.

I know it's your opinion but you seem somehow convinced Hart would have done in Portland what he's doing in NY if the Blazers would have kept him. We don't know that to be true. We do know that Cronin had discussions with Hart and almost certainly had a basis for his appraisal of the situation. IIRC he explicitly said in the PC after the deadline something to the effect of the trade being Portland getting assets for a player likely to leave in free agency

I suppose he could be lying, Or just an idiot who poorly evaluated a situation.

I do agree about Ant....last summer I was willing to give the Dame/Ant pairing a season to see if it had a different synergy than Dame/CJ, but by the trade deadline I had lost optimism. But for all we know Cronin did shop Ant and found no takers

I really wish Portland would stop investing so much in undersized no-defense SG's. It doesn't work well

I think this Harden thing helps our case with Lillard.

Even though Harden, Kyrie, KD, Westbrook etc. have all had better chances at the title in the last few years, they also have a combined total of 0 titles. And they've each bounced around on 2-3 teams already.

I don't think Dame wants that to be his legacy. If he goes to Miami and doesn't win a title, he will regret leaving Portland, and that probably weighs on him.

Your speculation is as good as mine.

Lowe said there was no scuttle of trade rumors about Ant/Sharpe at the deadline though. And Lowe is probably one of the most trustworthy people out there.

I actually think the initial plan was to trade the pick for an above average starter if it was 6 or 7 but once it got up to 3 they wanted an all star level player for it and when they couldn't get that, they wouldn't trade it for an above average starter because they see Scoot as being worth way more than that and they're probably right but it may cost them Dame. That being said if trading Dame is the best move for this franchise going forward the GM has to be willing to do that, as fans we can afford to be more emotional but I think GMs need to be shrewd.

The money ain't out there. Pretty much everyone is opting in. We could have kept him for the same salary if we were willing to pay it.

They definitely know that Cronin isn't going to take what they're offering. Is he not taking it because he has better offers on the table or is he not taking it because Dame is sticking around?
