Forgot about that. Really depends on how much they pay to retain Grant and Thybulle. Deals starting at 25 & 6 respectively are pretty easily manageable under the apron. Deals starting at 28 & 9...not so much.
let's see....assuming Knox was released Blazers are at 110M in guarantees; for 8 players. Say Grant + Thybulle = 32M. So 142M. Scoot+Murray+Rupert = 14M. So, Portland is at 156M; for 13 players. Apron is at 169M. So there is a margin there for a full-MLE and maybe even the BAE. But the TPE would be dead and any trades bringing in more incoming salary than outgoing would also be DOA. Which might be a major obstacle if Dame wants out without knowing if Cronin is going to pull any cap-reduction rabbits out of his hat I'm assuming that the Blazers stay with a tax-MLE and avoid the hard cap next season. Of course, this is the Vulcan controlled Blazers so the drop-dad line might be the tax threshold, not the apron
Not worried about the Vuclans like some of you are. I think they have been cheap so we do have some flexibility this summer, not that it looks like anyone is worth the full MLE. My question is how does being hard-capped affect the full TPE? It expires around the deadline... let's say we are just under the hard cap line, can we use the full 8.2 million and go over it? or do we have to be under by the amount of the player's contract that we are absorbing?
I don't know if it was mentioned above and I missed it, but the ESPN article about him being released said he was hobbled by an ankle injury last spring. That puts his barely getting off the bench for LAL in a better light.
I do not think Mo sucks but for the money he would command prolly closer to 10 to 12m+ per year not sure it's worth blowing a full MLE on him. I would rather give Hall from the Euroleague like a one or two year deal at league min maybe 3m per and you would prolly get about same production then from Mamba.
Not true! Rumor has it that Mo Bamba's fascination with the female bosom has been the ultimate distraction holding him back from fulfilling his potential on the court. Mo Bamba may have had his fair share of distractions in his NBA career, but his struggle has to do with breasts. His jump shot misses the mark and he loses track of guys on defense because he can't stop envisioning a pair of glorious melons bouncing around. Basketball is a complex sport that demands skill, focus, and countless hours of practice. It's unfair to boil down his performance to mere mammalian musings, but that is a crucial aspect that he just can't seem to get past.
I think Mo would be a great pick up on an affordable deal. Thats the key though. Absolutely not worth hard capping ourselves and even going into the tax for him is questionable. I still think he could put it all together and as they say you can’t teach length and height. He has both in spades. Pretty sure he had some measurable (standing reach?) that was the highest recorded at the time he was drafted.
I think another key would be trying to make sure that no large breasted women sit courtside. He would be endlessly distracted if we can't make that happen.
