Maybe. We'd have to ask if we'd have done it without him on the team, and we'd have to consider that we'll be paying him a LOT of money when he's 34+ years old. I'm not willing to give up the future to make it into the second round... fortunately we haven't done that with our last couple of lottery picks, and we shouldn't be doing it with re-signing our current players, either.
the per year number is fine for me. Probably starts around 27 mil. length of the deal is an issue, though. and we have 0 roster balance yet again.
jerami ends up with the largest total $ contract on day 1 of the 2023 FA. quick question: who were we bidding against?
Well, this may make it more difficult to secure Cam Boozer or Cooper Flagg in 2026. Any of those two next to Scoot-Sharpe-Murray would make for a promising future. Otherwise, none of Portland's moves and projected moves address its core weaknesses from last season. Even a Simons for OG trade, while helpful, would not fix the majority of issues (which is depth, interior defense, rebounds, and POA defense). Cronin may promise Dame a contender but he risks building neither a contender or a successful rebuild around Scoot+Sharpe. That's the big risk I see here.
I don't think the Grant deal has any impact in the Dame situation. Grant has shown in the past that he cares more about money than winning. He just got his BIG bag today. Nothing more, nothing less.
Now that he got his money he’ll revert back to being the injury riddled player he’s been much of his career.
Well shit... I was there for the first time this spring. Had I known, I would've bought you dinner... though that isn't the cheapest place the go out to dinner!
