I will say that I believe he will regret this decision. He was different because he was loyal. Now he's just another superstar who needs to join a superteam to have a chance to win a ring. No different from anyone else. My guess is he will fail.
Imagine if we traded Dame for Steph. How would you feel? That would be absolutely wild. It will never happen, but if there will ever be a time to talk about it, the time is nigh. Who would improve, or would it be a wash?
The future with Dame was annoyingly treading water and we all knew it. It still sucks in the moment, but this just forces us to move more quickly to the star backcourt of the future.
The loyalty thing doesn't bother me because for me it's either: A) people question that he's only loyal because he got paid even when the team sucks. Or B) he leaves because the organization never helped him. It is what it is but at some point people grow tired of not seeing progress.

Agreed. It sucks because everyone was emotionally attached to Dame. But the cloud is gone and we picked a path. Time to move forward. Not confident in Joe though.
