It might help one team taking on MIA's garbage if they also got Nurk in the deal... they could potentially send back a lesser Very Tall Guy in return.
Or Indianapolis or Orlando or Charlotte or OKC or Cleveland or wherever the f*** we get the best return. Our front office's loyalty needs to be to the Blazers first. We're never going to attract the kind of free agents that would be off put by us negotiating the best deal for ourselves rather than for the player, so why try to cater to them? Make the best deal for Portland.
I think calling it a slur is silly when it's not being used to label a person but I don't make the rules.
Exactly. "I have stopped being loyal to you but you disappointed me first so you better be loyal to me one last time as penance" is some abuser shit. If my partner said that to me I'd be fucking livid.
Yep. This team doesn't need to be anymore fucked than it already is. We need to get back the best package possible.
I was just thinking about a trade to the Spurs which would irritate me but would remind me of the Oscar Roberston trade to the Bucks with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the team as a new player. Interesting possibility would Dame play with that 19 year old.
It is going to be hard enough getting salaries to match just with Dame... adding in Nurk means we'd have to take back a half a roster of salary filler.
Heard on another board some ESPN folks reported Dame asked for a trade in the Monday meeting, don't know if true. If it is it makes the Grant signing a mystery?
The salaries match with Golden State just fine. Trade him for Klay and a couple of first rounders straight up. Let him experience California's wonderful income tax system.
A slur is a slur. It's hate speech. It's been used for decades to demean the developmentally disabled. Just because you don't use it directly to label someone does not make it ok to use. Like any other slur, you just don't fucking say it.
I never disliked him, and 5/160 isn't the *worst* contract the Blazers have signed in the last (checks notes for how long it's been since Dame signed his last extension)...
It will be interesting to see what the end trade is, but the Blazers need to take back as much picks as possible along with some young talent that matches our new time frame.
