I don't blame him for wanting out, but he's full of shit for saying how doesn't want to go to an already made team and then demanding Miami. He's no better than the ring chasers he used to chastise. He should have been making a stink *years* ago. But honestly, there wasn't a trade they could do that would make them a legit contender anyways. The NBA is going to market the hell out of him now. Especially since he's out of the city that none of them think should have a team in the first place. Let's hope scoot and Shaedon are part of a better complete team.
Don't forget, Kobe actually requested a trade to put pressure on the lakers F.O. when he thought they got "complacent".
I've thought for a while that it would be fitting for Dame to come back and play his final season or two as a Blazer. I would welcome him back.
ok then...convince me and make that case with the teams that would actually want to bid on Dame by the way, Houston traded Harden 2-1/2 years ago and all they have to show for it right now is Tari Eason and cash. That's it so far. Eason was landed with a 17th pick and Houston got 2021 and 2023 first round swaps that weren't exercised. They still have two picks and two swaps to go but the swaps have little value as shown already. And we don't know what those picks will be
If he said he doesn't want to play for a team with multiple all-stars, then I agree that isn't in line with going to Miami. I can't see a scenario where he would want to be traded from Portland, to go to another team that is built like Portland. Going to a team ready to win a championship only makes sense.
Right, and then some idiot will post that since we treat our players so well, the best free agents will come here.
you're making several assumptions there one is that Dame's contract will still be "albatross" when the cap could be in the 175-190M range the other is that Portland will not have to take back any other albatross deals in the Dame trade
25 is perfectly fine to rebuild with (not saying I want him specifically). You can't have guys all the same age (in years of experience) or it kills you when they are all up for contracts at the same time.
Cronin has already installed a losing culture. We watched Billups benching guys that were playing good. The GM only cares about getting good rookies and facilitating an optimal price for the future sale of the Blazers.
