Look, I like Dame as much as anyone (well, actually not as much as some of you!) But in any case, while I love that he gave me some of my best basketball memories ever, I am truly psyched to watch Scoot and Shaeden. I think in 5 years, today will look like the day the Warriors traded Monte Ellis and handed the keys to Steph Curry, which at the time, seemed super risky (in 2012, it kinda was.) I'm not saying that we're the Warriors, not even close, but I am saying that these two kids have the potential for greatness. "Scoot to Shaeden for the dunk!" is going to be a thing, and a blast.
Oh, I am pumped. And I thought a reset was necessary. It still hurts while it is actively happening though. NGL
Should be fun if they buy into the community and pitch their tents here. I think Dames Mom and Fam really helped him settle here over the years.
Scoot can also catch lobs. Could be Sharpe to Scoot for the dunk too. (Don't like the landing here, though.)
I really really really hope you're right. If I had to guess, the debate will be between three groups: Told you this rebuilding process wasn't likely to work, we should've kept Dame It would've been worse had Dame stayed, I'm glad we made a move. Scoot/Sharpe are overpaid, but I really think our 2028 draft picks will be superstars!
Hoping that Scoot or Shaedon is so much better than the greatest Blazer ever that it's comparable to the talents of Steph Curry vs Monta Ellis is pretty optimistic. Scoot or Shaedon would have to be the next Michael Jordan or LeBron James to bridge that gap. It's more likely that we traded Steph Curry for a young Monta Ellis.
I am ready for a reload/ reboot! I hope Dame pulls a Garnett out of this trade and be able to hug that ball tightly when he cries on the Championship floor! Let's get Blazin with our Youngins!
I 100% didn’t say that. I said it is analogous. Dame is the greatest Blazer ever - no duh. These are a couple of untested teens. But an old pro leaving for a young upstart? That’s the analogy.
Look at Dallas, they were lucky enough to bridge the Dirk Nowitzki era with the Luka Doncic era. It’s not totally impossible. And if Scoot lives up to his hype like Luka did, we’ll be in a great place. Add Shaedon to that and we already have a head start on the next era.
I’m all for the reboot as well but will be glued to the tv to watch Dame in the finals either with Miami or Philadelphia. As for the young guns, I am looking forward to seeing them have to perform in a different style offense. I saw many guys looking like they bought a ticket to watch Dame vs doing something to help the team.
I was thinking about/comparing the situation to the Warriors today while on a long solo hike today... plenty of time to ruminate. What I'd hope to emulate is that when their young stars to be showed promise, they were able to attract quality FAs before their capspace disappeared. Andre Iguadala wouldn't have signed there if they didn't have the money, but they also had promise with 3 young talents. A couple years later, KD wouldn't have signed there if they didn't have the money, but they also had 4 studs he could blend with. If the Scoop & Shaeden show goes well, they will come... if management clears the space. STOMP
Sure, we'd be in great shape if Scoot became a top 5 player in the NBA. Hopefully he does. What small guard has become even a top 10 player without shooting being a major strength in the past decade?
Russell Westbrook, Ja Morant, Derrick Rose (a little past a decade) And you said it yourself when you were touting Amen Thompson. Shooting is the easiest thing to teach. Scoot’s shooting form doesn’t look as bad as Amen’s.
