anyone else find it suspect that the Nets traded Joe Harris, Patty Mills and let Seth Curry walk? They could use a guard

i will cheer as loud as anyone when i see him on the opponents bench next year, but as you said its a game. A team game we want to win. The point of playing games is entertainment and competitive gamesmanship. Meaning, trying to win.
What gets us more wins in the future, one additional pick? Or not facing Dame three more times a season on a contending team?
Sorry, as much as i love Dame i dont want him being the one waiving portland out every first or second round for the next handful of years. Send him east or dont send him.

I would rather see Dame go to the Nets than go to the Heat. At this point I’d still root for him if he was traded to any team other than the Heat (or Lakers).

I still have love for Dame. He was a great leader, an amazing scorer and he represented Portland well.

No one is without fault though. He didn’t make teammates better, and his defense was not good.

He had a lot of input in team decisions.

And preaching about never switching on Portland and calling out other players for doing so, seems a bit hypocritical.

Reality is we have not been a contending team since LA left, and not even a playoff team the past two years.

Now we finally have a path that has a lot to be excited for in Scoot and Shae.

Blazers like Jarret Allen. They think he’s a good fit with Scoot and Sharpe

Yeah I saw that yesterday, "if true" basically Fuck That! again "if true". Cronin's job here is to get the best assets he can for the future of this team, NOT caving in to a trade demand that very likely limits the return we could get. If it's time to play hard bal, then play hard ball. The drama continues

Allen and picks would be a great haul. Problem is, how the hell are you looping Cleveland into the deal?

But yeah, I'll take any defensive big man to pair with two defensively challenged guards.

Clearly, I disagree, and don't think it's a shithole at all! And I have a winter home there, so I love it.

    Different strokes for different folks.

Scoot will be a much better defender than we’ve been used to

It was time man. It was not the right move to waste lottery picks to bring in borderline stars and continue to run on the treadmill. Dame seemed to be incapable of realizing that. Joe couldn’t just trade Dame. He needed Dame to ask out and now we’re here.

Exactly! Scoot looks like a steal machine; half his highlights are off steals.

Actually Dame is being traded and think Ant is going to come off the bench. The have two new guys Scoot and Sharpe, both really athletic, young and have all the tools to be great defender. Actually, both have shown that potential.

Edit. Oooops, see this was already addressed. Any case, it seems to be the Blazer fan way.

Asked this before, and if someone answered it, I missed it. Where did Joe give a quote that makes Dame the bad guy? I saw the statement that was made, but that seemed more like a recitation of events than anything else. They had just signed Grant to what most in the league thought was way too much money as part of the plan to bring Dame back. Whether they were going to be able to bring more Free Agents here, is a matter of conjecture, but this franchise has very rarely been able to do that no matter what era it was. Bert is a huge Dame fan and since he is Joe's boss, it is tough to imagine him overtly going against something Bert wanted. Supposedly Dame had talked to FA's that wanted to play with him. Did they get offered more to go elsewhere? Not sure we will know that.

I get that yesterday was a tough day and your fandom for Dame is well chronicled. Anyone can respect that....love the passion. Did Joe overestimate what he would be able to do or underestimate what other teams would ask in return for the few pieces he had? I believe that to be completely true. It wasn't like they didn't try, but what other teams were asking for in terms of return would have been franchise malpractice if he had gone through with them. Yes, we could have got a piece like OG, but what Ujiri wanted was incredible. He wanted almost Durant like return for his players. It would have been a massive overpay even though we would have received a vet back. Maybe that is what some people wanted. I spoke to a fan at the Draft that didn't care how much it took. He was very much more interested in Dame's happiness right now than the longer term health of the team. I kept adding assets for a trade and he was willing to give up multiple players and multiple picks for a player that would have been difficult making that much of a difference.

Teams knew of the situation Portland was in and the Blazers would have 'lost' any trade that they were having discussions on in terms of value and we are still hampered by not having control of our Draft picks, which is left over from Olshey. Until that is remedied, Portland is somewhat handcuffed. Joe wasn't able to do what he said he would try to do. but the discussions were at least around better pieces than Olshey who traded away countless picks for marginal players like RoCo, Nance, Collins, etc. Joe wasn't able to close....and that is part of this job. But he wasn't dealing from a position of strength. Part of that was on him for the very little we got from the CJ, Powell, Nance, RoCo trades. We had very few tradable contracts that any other team deemed valuable. Part of that is on Olshey for us not having younger players besides Ant that have grown into valuable, tradable pieces because he traded away so many picks.

I wish all of this had been done years ago when there was more time to make it work. Right after the sweep by the Pelicans and certainly after getting run out of town by the injury decimated Nuggets. But it didn't happen then and we weren't able to get it down now.

Going forward, my hope is that out of the young core of Sharpe, Scoot, Murray, Rupert, Butler, Badji, Keon, players in return for Dame, and whomever Schmitz might find in the Sudan league (seems to be a favorite right now), that at least 3 of those players 'hit' and develop into legit starters. Sharpe/Scoot have to be 2 of those for how high they were picked and you hope you get another starter and maybe a rotation player out of the rest. As much as I hope for that, I wish that ownership would change tomorrow. Some of what is going on would make Harry Glickman roll over in his grave. Until that is fixed, no matter what the success of the next era is, IMO, it will be hampered.
