To each their own, I've not been able to stand Chad since his CIP days. He's off the charts douchy for me...

It's gonna be really tough on the Blazers Broadcasting Team. Many have very good relationships with Dame. They might be totally upset, or not, but won't be able to voice it at all.

I don't think Chad... or Jayenes... are reporters. I think they're radio columnists. They offer opinions. They don't interview the players. They don't break news.

Marang tries.... to report. Quick used to be a reporter. Highkin and Freeman are legit reporters.

I like Danny because he is knowledgable on cap issues , and does have relationships with insiders. Only talking about regarding Blazers though. We have different takes on football due to our favorite team differences.

They're different roles, 100% agree. Part of it is the shifting landscape of journalism as an industry. I'd bet good money that many small markets are going through similar situations.

That's fair. They're paid for their opinions.

I like Portland Sports radio better because there's access through calling shows. That doesn't happen in Denver. Denver is loaded with Ex NFL football players on the radio to go along with TV media types. They take no calls , only text. And they rarely answer them.

Many are former Broncos or Buffs, and they come off as condescending much of the time. I'm a Broncos fan but , former Bronco Mark Schlereth is one of the worst. Former Seahawk / Steeler Chad Brown was always pretty cool though. But i have a feeling if this had happened in Denver, and it involved Elway, they would have went live.

    That's completely fair.

There's a huge difference between someone who just offers their opinions and someone who is essentially a beat reporter. They serve different roles. But it seems like very few of the people who offer their opinions on the team actually have any sources.

It's possible that I'm biased, having worked with a call-in show, but I find those to be, at best, wastes of everyone's time, and at worst, absolute clown shows.

I guess i'm biased the other way. I used to call in to Denver Radio. Some of the callers are as knowledgable as the talent. Some guest of those shows are asshats. Even though they're paid , they don't always do their job. Lots of laziness on Nat'l shows with the info.

Like last year. Dame didn't play more games because the Blazers shut him down to tank. While he had a calf issue early, he was in full throttle mode at the time he was shut down. Chris Broussard said he was hurt. No he wasn't. It was lazy East Coast bias lack of actually knowing the facts. While the team record wasn't great, if they don't tank , I doubt they don't at least make the play in. That ain't great, but it's way better than being bottom 5 record where they ended up after full on tanking.
