Obviously those players didn't make it here and YES, that is how he showed his loyalty. When year after year this team failed to put better talent around him after LaMarcus left, he showed his loyalty by not asking out... 100%. He showed his loyalty by being a helluva brand ambassador for the Blazers. He showed his loyalty by doing the kind of work he did in the community. Think back to the presser he did right before the Olympics... he felt like part of him showing loyalty was him always improving and he felt at that time the same kind of loyalty wasn't being shown by the front office. This shit isn't between us (the fans) and Dame. Dame has shown us so much love over the years. This shit is about the Blazers front office/ownership and Dame. I do not blame Dame if he isn't worried about those people and is just worried about doing what's best for him now. The loyalty (giving it everything) was one way traffic all of that loyalty was coming from Dame with little to no reciprocity from the organization. It sucks that we the fans who have also been loyal to Dame are kind of left out of the equation but I said this earlier: this is our hobby, this is Dame's life. So if fans of this team want to be mad at somebody be mad at Olshey and be mad at Cronin. I think the anger towards Dame is misplaced.
Will continue to say this about Barry Jackson ... as a Miami Dolphins fan who is familiar with him, take his stuff with a grain of salt. He can be a pretty big fanboy.
Everyone thinks we need more guards. Why would we want Brogdon who just failed a physical too. That has to hurt his value right now. Herro, while flawed, is a better asset with Miamis three firsts if they can get OKC to lift protections.
Boston fans: We see that Miami is offering you a pile of garbage.... but have you considered our steaming pile of garbage as well?
I was thinking about this yesterday, because I think the Sixers could be a darkhorse here. Maxey has a place in Portland if you trade Ant. I think that'd be an upgrade. Same player in a lot of ways but I think Maxey is a bit better. Keep the better of the two, send the other guy out to get something you need.
Dude was only loyal because he was getting paid well. He was loyal to himself and his family, not the fans. Was he the only player in the community? That is pretty common for players to be active in the community, not like he is doing something that a majority of the players are not out doing. Sheed did a coat drive every year and was out in the community and was not promoting it, he was doing it for the cause, Dame always made sure there was a camera there. It was about him, not him being loyal to the Blazers.
Bottom line it's in the Blazers court due to if they can't get what they want they don't have to trade him. Let be serious do you think honestly that Dame would sit out until he traded talking about a big red mark on your name if he did something like that. Plus they could find him each day that he didn't show up. So I am saying the blazers has the leverage on this situation. But do I really think that's going no I believe that Dame will end up in Miami but it will be at least 3 teams in the deal.
Haynes: "2 days before the draft, Joe Cronin called Damian Lillard and told him that they were likely keeping the pick. And from there, I know Dame didn't have any conversations with the Blazers at that point." Pretty much what we figured.
I would be happy if Dame was traded to the Nets or Celtics. Again, if he joined any team but the Heat or Lakers I would gladly still root for him to win a championship. If he does join Miami I think I’d look at him in the same light as Lebron. That’s just me.
I'm telling you this is a masterclass being conducted by Riley. He is letting all of these supposed offers of "take our shit" get out there. Then he's going to come in with a trade that gets us good value for Herro from a third team and it will be so much better than all of the shit that has been floated to the media that Cronin will take it and like it. It really might not even be that bad of a deal but it definitely won't be great.
C'mon man. He does things that he believes in. Sheed should have promoted the coat drive. Maybe it might get more support.
Bro, local sports writers have NO MORE insight than people on here. Unless you are somebody like Haynes that actually builds relationships with these players, they just spout out bullshit. People hate on Haynes, but he knows these guys and talks to these guys. Nobody talks to these local writers. They get all their “juice” from asking questions in press conferences,
