I feel like any conversation involving Cronin and Ainge should have a Brazzers logo in the corner because you know what'll happen.
That may not be the case. Ainge may view Kessler as better than Gobert and Lillard better than Mitchell. It is not clear how Utah eventually gets to championship level play and Lillard gets them there. Think he sees that and might be happy to compensate the Blazers to get there. So, in one year he gets better on the court and still has a surplus of assets.
I’ll admit, I would be very disappointed in this offer. I like Hendricks, but I have no interest in trying to extract value out of Sexton. If Hendricks is the only player to be excited about, I would expect 5-6 1sts. I’d probably rather have a package of Jovic, Clowney, and 4-6 1sts and 2 pick swaps. The Jazz just don’t seem like a trade partner that makes sense.
That's definitely the logic of why Utah would make the deal... they are NOT going to draft nine guys in the first round in the next three years. Dame might be a bit too old for them, but he'd be such a massive upgrade and fit in well with their front court, which is looking pretty fantastic moving forward, that I can definitely see them making a deal... especially knowing that they will have lots of first rounders to use and/or trade in the next few years.
Doesn't solve the problems of Dame's entourage and national basketball writers, though. They want Dame somewhere exciting.
I don't think we can get that much stuff, and I like Hendricks more than any other name being bandied about other than Maxey (who doesn't fit with the Blazers at all). And if Utah is involved, they have more picks than anyone else they can use, which is why I think (again, if they choose to throw their hat in the ring) they're the best or second-best trade partner. If we can get more, great, but I just don't see it being very likely.
I'm on the same wavelengths, comparing these offers will be apples:donuts:bicycles... If we could get Hendricks and a even a couple of those unprotected Minny picks, I think 2 or 3 premium assets like that might be better than the Miami crap we're kicking around...
I agree, if Philly wanted Dame, Maxey to Utah for value and whatever reasonable capspace was needed would be a good way to go, Hendricks and some picks and whatever filler
The skeptic in me thinks this could be Canzano trying to get back into good graces with the Blazers and/or just put out stuff he knows his market will want to read... But MY GOD... If this is legit, this is it. This is the one. This is the Silver Tuna.
