Yes, Not to derail the thread, but: https://hoopshabit.com/2023/07/02/nba-trades-spurs-dame-miami-deal-blazers/ I'll start a "Spurs trade" thread at some point, probably.
Barnes is mine. I think he's the perfect combination of age, position, size and skills to be a long term fit with the Blazers and our young back court. Dunno if he's available or not, but he's my guy of the moment.
you could give Ujiri Prime Jordan, Prime Lebron, Prime Kobe, Prime Shaq, Prime Magic together and he would still refuse to deal Barnes for that package. Just stay away from that idiot
Before a few days ago, there was no chance that Portland would trade Damian Lillard for Scottie Barnes. To me, that means there's a chance.
Ironic that I'm about the only one on this board who hasn't convinced themselves that Jovic is the second coming
The Eastern Conference seems vulnerable right now. Dame would be a perfect fit and they'd be instant contenders. Dame going to another Eastern Conference team would be quite bad for Toronto's chances.
Maybe not. But he could want a big swing right now. I doubt Dame would want them to move OG instead. I'd rather have Barnes anyways. If they gave us OG instead, and they worked on their outstanding protections of a 1st, they could offer a package of OG and three 1sts with Young, Porter Jr (expirings) and Boucher (Boucher has two years). OG would need an extension, though. I would like that more than Miamis deal. OG or Barnes.
It is interesting to me when people speak so definitively. We definitely saw a lot of it in the months before Dame requested a trade. I don't know that Toronto would trade Barnes, but at least the podcast chatter with the Raptors guys made it sound like they'd be open to it.
If you like Barnes, consider Anthony Black on Orlando. Three-way with New York and Orlando - Lillard to NY, Jalen Brunson to Orlando, Black (and change) to Portland.
I'm not that hyped on him either. Solid offensive skills, but defensively, he might be in real trouble.
Barnes is a lot longer than Black... he has a 7.25 inch larger wingspan and 5.5 inch higher vertical reach while being 1.25 inches taller. He also weighed 15 pounds more at the combine. The two guys are just built differently, and I think Barnes can hold up at the 3 while I don't see Black being able to. I guess we'll see, but I don't think Black is the same level of prospect that Barnes is, although he is 2.5 years younger so he totally might be and we just haven't seen it yet.
Not in any meaningful order: Anthony Black Nick Claxton Jeremy Sochan Scottie Barnes Herb Jones / Trey Murphy III Jaylen Brown Taylor Hendricks
Claxton from Brooklyn. He would be an anchor for 10 years. Send them Nurk in a Dame trade. Get expirings, one or both rookies, draft picks and call it good. I would even take on Simmons to make the deal work as long as Claxton is in the deal. Simmons can play the 3, or go on sabbatical. Claxton will be incredible with Scoot/Shae. Seriously, game changing incredible. Next years draft is loaded with sf's. Get one there. Barnes is good, Claxton is a must.
Anthony Edwards from the Wolves...he's going to be a superstar but he just signed a 5 year deal so that's off the table until the deadline Giannis...first choice every time if I'm swapping a superstar for a superstar now.
