Some things can't be undone. This was a long coming divorce between Cronin, the Blazers, and Dame. Now that it's happened, it's best for all parties to move on.

Dames never going to have the support of all fans, Blazers employees, players, rookies, coaches, media, etc that he used to. Yes maybe there's a few diehard Dame fans like you that would support him. Most won't; it's over.

I think he’s wearing a blazer uniform to start the season.
I could be incredibly wrong but the deals just don’t make sense. If he wants to go to Miami and Miami only..,I don’t see it

Difference is KD never preached loyalty or led the franchise like Dame. You cant speak of loyalty, be unloyal, then go back to leading by loyalty.

It was one of Dames biggest strengths but its now gone and he can never get it back.

I’m sure Dame already feels dirty. This is not who he’s been. May even already have some regret. I hate that part of it. He felt betrayed. I get it. We brought in Scoot. He’s getting older.

buisiness side of this sucks. Hell go to a team that will love him until they lose in the playoffs. First sign of his game slowing down he will get kicked to the curb

Shitty situation all the way around.

damage has been done, but he's not too stupid to realize that we have 0 incentive to take 30 cents on the dollar.

what is going to do? sit out? do you really see dame ever stooping to that level?

Posted some of this in another thread but it probably applies most to this thread.

A potential benefit of getting distant unprotected first from a team, such as Miami 2028 2030 picks and swaps in 2027 2029 is if the Blazers eventually want to reunite with Dame they have tons of leverage against Miami to send Dame here. Especially if Miami is considering rebuilding.

Look at how much leverage the Bulls have with us in trade discussions and they don't own a single lottery pick of ours. Blazers would have 30x the influence by owning Miami picks for multiple years unprotected. We could probably reacquire Dame for a fraction of the trade package we will receive.

It could parallel LeBron returning to Cleveland years later to win a title.

I think right now there's way to much damage by both sides for Dame to play as a Blazer as wished in OP "epiphany". Both parties need a fresh start. But in a few years if both parties are looking to make some changes a reunion could be a great possibility.

@tykendo I really do always appreciate your insights but this thread is fucking depressing as hell. Dame is not going to be a Blazer anymore... if I'm wrong I will be ecstatic because I don't think Dame is to blame for the divorce. That's also why I don't think Dame will be back. I think Joe pushed him out, I think and now hope that Joe knew he was doing that (if not he fucking sucks at setting a goal and hitting it). So since Joe wanted Dame to ask out I don't think he's trying to get Dame back and if Dame already wanted out and no one is trying to get him back, he's gone.

I get it though. It will be a sad day when the trade is announced but I think the day after will feel like a lot of weight has been lifted because we can just start looking forward to the development of our young team.
