Taking Simmons would be tough, but if he is the large part of the salary match, and the rest is young players and picks for Dame + picks for taking on Simmons, I could live with it as a sunk cost that will be gone soon......right when you will want to start adding vets to Scoot/Sharpe/Murray, etc.
Yeah I would take Sochan too but I think the Spurs likely value Sochan a lot more than 2 of their 12 future first round picks that they have the rights to.
Martin will be 28 before the season starts, almost a decade older than Scoot/Sharpe. I actually prefer Jovic. If you can get a 3way with Brooklyn where we get Jovic/Clowney/4-5 1s I’d take it.
I don’t think the age of players we get back matters too much; our window doesn’t even open a crack until five years from now anyway and I virtually guarantee everyone we get back from this deal that isn’t a pick will be gone by then. Find guys who can fill spots and teach kids, because we’re going to be a daycare for a while yet.
LMAO if we don't get at least Jovic out of the deal. Again, this is Cronin negotiating here. Of course it's going to be light.
Thats why I differentiated market size and product produce. You can be in a small market size with high market share. Or large market and small volume.
I don't see why we shouldn't be getting both. We're giving up a hall of famer and we're quibbling about role players and late 1st round prospects? Go fuck yourself Cronin and Miami.
Exactly...... I would say Wolves and Kings have been good, now they could be considered better. The best segment is only maybe 5-7 teams out of 30.
What is the purpose of getting back great players? To lower our draft position? To take time away from our young guys? To become overpaid salary anchors before we’re ready to compete? Is it because it’s best for the team or is it because people don’t want to look like cucks?
Charlotte went after him despite his medical history. Anyone with even a little NBA knowledge knew this was a bad deal at the time, but Charlotte went for it because they're Charlotte and they can't get a big name in a different way. I do agree that getting rid of contracts like these is not always a slam dunk, but there are opportunities with desperate teams at times.
We have to take back salary (unless we trade with SA) so I am fine with it being someone who helps our D Simmons and Grant would not be a bad frontcourt to go with our young backcourt.
The issue small market size can have against larger market competition, in order to thrive and survive they live on shorter margins by earning try to offset with volume. Can be very dangerous as cost of doing business can be much higher as well.
