I think Joe needs to hold firm but I really want to see this resolved before training camp. First off it's a distraction for our young players, vets, coaches, staff, and fans. It sort of hangs over the organization as a dark cloud. Ben Simmons was different as he wasn't the teams best player let alone an all time 76ers great. Simmon's was more similar to ZBo here, yeah a situation that is nice to resolve but nothing historical to the franchise. Second is the risk Dame gets injured, plays poorly, or a trade partner no longer wishes to add him. If the Heat or other team get out to the East best record they may no longer want to break up their starters to trade for him. Or if they lose a ton they may fear Dame wouldn't make them a contender and they'd be reluctant to give up future picks. So there is no urgency to get this done in the next few weeks. But there is an urgency to get it resolved in the next few months.
I think it will be resolved well before training camp. Most likely going to be Dame and Nurk out and 3 players and 4 picks in Just a guess
Isn't Joe on the top of everyone with this trade? He's got best player and can wait. If they want Lillard, make them pay. You know what I've seen from Heat fans? That Lillard landed us two lottery picks, last two years, as he agreed to sit, so What else do we want?? We should take Herro and fo.
Not really on top of everyone. ABSOLUTELY has the best player, but that player completely tied Joe’s hands by 1.saying he wanted out 2. Saying only Miami Makes Joes job of getting CLOSE to equal value almost impossible
Lillard should tweet something like: "If they don't think you worth sacrifice, don't play for them. They get you cheap, they will treat you cheap."
Yeah MIA doesn’t want him enough to give up Bam. If Dame was wemby or Giannis or luka they would… Just sayin Dame…you ain’t a top 5 and never were.
If Dame want only Miami, it’s kinda on him and his agent to increase Miami’s offer. Need to be at .50 cents on the dollar when all is said and done
I agree and disagree. I agree the pressure is on Goodwin and Riley to find their best offer, not on us. However, I think our return needs to be significantly higher than that. Giving a discount to accommodate Dame is not in our team's best interest, either short- or long-term.
I think the math is...we're getting 100 (maybe 115-120?) cents on the dollar, but it's 3 quarters and 4 dimes rather than a buck and 4 nickels. Or, in the Simmons case, 3 quarters and 4 dimes for Dame, and an extra 3 nickels because I took your chewed-up gum and told you I'd take care of throwing it away.
Joe imo is only thinking about wiping the slate clean so he, Chancey & Mike can build through youth. Im sure they had this plan last year when they decided to tank. Joe knows that building with youth is job security. He's probable;y a nice dude and well intentioned, however I think he's very naive in what he thinks he can accomplishe through trades and fa markets. His comfort zone is younger players.
The Blazers had Dame sit out games already. What's a few more? I'm not advocating being petty or mean, but I would like the team to point out to Dame that he needs their help to sign off on a trade and he is not getting any younger. The Blazers aren't responsible for having to take his desires under consideration, but will. Cronin should do what's best for the team, his future anywhere after here might be riding on it. And it's not like Dame is going to be shipped off to the Mongolian league. I'd like them to say something like, we'll get you somewhere you have a chance to win, but we'd rather you sit out, then trade you for peanuts. And is your destination more important than being able to play? I know this won't happen, but one can dream
Worst case that I’d accept if I was Joe to get this over… Dame/Nurk out Jaquez/Jovic/Simmons in 2 Mia 1s/2 Brooklyn 1s in and I wouldnt be pleased.
